Tybee Island Blonde is a Kölsch style ale. It is a clean, crisp, session beer brewed with noble hops. The Blonde has a light floral aroma and a mild hop bitterness. The agreeable nature of this German style ale means that it will get along well with many foods, but you have to pick a dish that won’t overwhelm it. Being that we are on the coast, we suggest you start by pairing it with some seafood!

Slightly funky grain aroma, with just a little hint at some sweet spiciness. Jimmy-Buffett-esque can. Tinged straw color, very clear, not much head. Lightly malty, a light straw-husky bittering. Medium body. Hay-bitter aftertaste clings a bit. I would only have this again if it was free. And cold. Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Abercorn, Savannah.

Can from Five Points Bottle Shop (Lumpkin St.). Pale malt nose, sugar, floral, and light grain. Gold straw color, soap sudsy head. Grassy, light malt sweetness, some bread.... Thin body. Okay. The floral sweetness is a bit much.

$9.79 six pack from a Bi-Lo on Hilton Head Island, SC. Pours a hazy dark gold with an explosive white head that slowly falls to a few permanent lumps atop the beer. Aroma is weak--malts and some yeast. Taste is sweet malts, butter, vanilla, some nuts with a yeasty and crisp finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. This is well within the style guidelines, being refreshing, easy to drink, and forgettable. Worth a tick if you’re in the area.

On tap @ Pirate’s House / Savannah GA --- Clear rich golden amber with a wispy head cover, bubbly rim head, pebbled curtain of lace. Clean malt opens the taste, moving casually through the palate to a mild bitter hop finish that adds carbonation fizz as a kicker. This is a solid food beer, really easy to drink. Recommended.

Can, Pours a straw color with a foamy head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of citrus, light fruit and bit of malt. Taste of fruit, malt sweetness and bit of grain. Easy bitterness and a clean finish. Light body, crisp and refreshing. Nice Kolsch beer, good for the summer days.
