1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 rmussman (1384) - USA - JUL 15, 2007
Very disappointing. I have heard of coastal fog for a while and was excited to try this but it was very very disappointing with little to no flavor. Hate to say it but i wont recommend this beer as it is just flat.

22oz bottle. This brew is by far the best from Coastal Fog. Poured a lightly hazed golden yellow, head was big and white. Brew was full of wheat and yeast all the way around, pretty refreshing.
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 marcus (4054) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 7, 2008
This yellowish wheat beer poured with a decent white head that lasted a while. This is a very lightweight beer, in that the flavor is very thin and rather tasteless. It might be refreshing on a very hot day, but has no other discernible redeeming qualities.

O.K., I’ve slammed every American wheat beer I’ve tasted because they are nothing like German weizenbier (wheat beer), and many of them state that they are brewed in "The German tradition" or other such bilge. This beer actually comes the closest to true Bavarian Weizenbiers of all the U.S. products I’ve sampled and is actually quite good. Kudos to this brewmaster and brewery for a job moderately well done. The esters are on the right track and it doesn’t seem like additives have been sneaked in to make it taste and smell like the German beer. It still has a long way to go to match an "Ayinger" or "Hopf", but there are many Bavarian weizenbiers that don’t do as well as those breweries in their own neighborhood.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GG (1980) - NorCal, California, USA - NOV 28, 2007
It really is either hit or miss with anything that Coast Range makes. Okay, so this is contract brewed, the theory still applies. Missing the mark of a true German hefe, it still is able to fufill it’s responsibility of being an American hefe. Light cracker nose, subtle light fruits. No bananna, no clove, no bubblegum...hmmm. Appearance is a hazy yellowish/gold with a lacy 1 finger thick head. Flavor is lightly hopped, more carbonated than I care for...and missing all the flavors and nuances of a nice German hefe. And it says on the bottle Bavarian wheat? If you buy it, don’t expect a whole lot.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 FlacoAlto (3153) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 7, 2007
A hazy, yellow-gold colored beer sits underneath and initially one-finger thick, fairly quickly disappearing, pale, off-white colored head. The aroma is lightly tart with notes of green apple, hints of melon and some cracker-like malt. Really the aroma is fairly clean, with the fruitiness being the most distinct note; after the Paulaner Hefe I just drank, this seems pretty lame for a Bavarian Hefe. Let’s see what the flavors bring.
Again the beer is tart, with ample notes of wheat & malt. It is quite clean, with perhaps a touch of green apple fruitiness. Really this is just a light, American style wheat beer. Nondescript and just a vehicle for the wheat & malt flavors. It has a light sweetness to it, a touch of grassiness (from both hop and grain perhaps) as well as a very light bitterness. Maybe there is a hint of clove here, which would be the only thing close to the traditional Bavarian wheat beer yeast flavors. Definitely a disappointment & certainly not deserving of the right to put Bavarian Wheat beer on the label, maybe I should have taken this literally that they meant they used a Bavarian strain of wheat for this beer. This is certainly not a bad beer, and I would have enjoyed it a bit more if I had thought I was buying an American style wheat beer.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hayduke (2531) - Eureka, California, USA - AUG 1, 2007
From a 22 oz bottle I poured it into two Duvel glasses to split with my brother. The first glass was a very clear amber with a medium light yellow head and the second was very cloudy. They tasted different also. Two different brews from top and bottom of the bottle. This may happen more often than I realize but is was quite apparent this time. Mouthfeel was very light and the flavor was a little sweet for a wheat with yeast quite present in the cloudy glass.. Not as good a German Hefe, but drinkable nevertheless. I see you need a photo . I will send one.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 cbkschubert (2752) - Cochise Co., Arizona, USA - JUN 30, 2007
22 oz. bottle from BevMo (Mission Valley) - Pours a hazy light golden color with a 3/4 finger thick white head. Aroma is light yeast, lemon, and wheat. Doesn’t smell like a German Hefe. Flavor is also lemon and yeast. Thin palate and body. A little bitter. Not too bad after just walking in the house from a miserable 100 degrees outside.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 grant (842) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAY 15, 2007
Hazy sunny yellow, dissipating head. Doughy, yeasty, fresh aroma with lightly spiced lemons. Flavor is consumed mostly with yeast disjecta of the mace sort, not 100% pleasant I must add. Some sourness and lemony notes present as well. Strong, refreshing carbonation here. Pretty good beer - it seems I’m the first to kind of like it. My against-the-grain rating here has me wanting to revisit this one.
