Cask conditioned gravity dispense Northants Beer Festival 2011. A black beer with an off-white ring of head. Sweetish fruit in the aroma with decent maltiness. A nice depth of flavours with licorice and a veggy note. Sweeter than normal. Pleasant.

On tap at The Wellington in Birmingham, pours dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts and sour fruits. Flavour of off-sour fruits, leather, roasted malt and burnt notes. Not too stimulating/

Cask at the Courthouse, Dudley. Pours pitch black with a large tight head. Aroma was mild coffee malt, some Coke and dark fruit. Dark fruity malt start with a coffee, burnt malt low bitter finish. Really full and smooth in the mouth.

Cask at the Manchester Winter Ales Festival. The usual coffee and chocolate. Low carbonation. A solid porter but just didn’t really give me a pan handle I’m afraid. Still good work though.

Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090123]
