Fruity and slightly rich aroma. Dark strong in alcohol fruity and hoppy with a crisp and bitter lasting finish.

cask. from first sip quite strong beer. dark fruit tones not much roast aroma. dark light brown head. medium sweetness and roast bitterness in the end. dry beer. goid dry bitter end like it.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense Northants Beer Festival 2011. A black beer with an off-white ring of head. Sweetish fruit in the aroma with decent maltiness. A nice depth of flavours with licorice and a veggy note. Sweeter than normal. Pleasant.

On tap at the Wellington, Birmingham. Pours dark brown with cream head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, nuts, dried fruits and slight hint of red wine. Smooth and full bodied, although not very complex flavours.

On tap at The Wellington in Birmingham, pours dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts and sour fruits. Flavour of off-sour fruits, leather, roasted malt and burnt notes. Not too stimulating/

Cask at the Courthouse, Dudley. Pours pitch black with a large tight head. Aroma was mild coffee malt, some Coke and dark fruit. Dark fruity malt start with a coffee, burnt malt low bitter finish. Really full and smooth in the mouth.

Cask at NWAF 2009. A black beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, chocolate, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and chocolate. The mouthfeel is smooth, but the body a bit thin.

Cask @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester. Has a roasted malty chocolate and coffee aroma. Slightly sweetish roasted malty chocolate flavor with some hints of caramel and coffee. Has a sweetish roasted malty chocolate finish.

Cask at the Manchester Winter Ales Festival. The usual coffee and chocolate. Low carbonation. A solid porter but just didn’t really give me a pan handle I’m afraid. Still good work though.

Cask (handpump) @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester, England.
Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090123]
