Commercial Description:
Monk’s Habit The Trappist monasteries of Belgium are world famous for the special styles of beer they produce. One mouthful of Cock & Bull’s own Abbey inspired Ale and you will know why! Large amounts of Munich, Vienna, and Crystal malts, along with generous portions of Saaz and Styrian Goldings hops and brewed with a special yeast, all add up to a taste experience which will titillate your taste buds. A warming spicy beer with a rich copper colour, served in a traditional style glass. Be warned.....a very moreish drop! 6.5% Alc/Vol O.G. 1067

Beautiful passionfruit nose, slightly hazy at low temp, once it warms up has a good fruity hop bitterness that is balanced by a cloying sweet alcohol warmth,

(On tap) Clear, dark copper with a small, rough, off-white head leaving some laces. Fat, peachy hop aroma. Medium body with sweetish caramel and honey with lots of peaches and tropical fruits before a dry and hoppy finish. Very well made and harmonious beer. But there’s nothing much Belgian about it. 310108 and 060208

Draught at the Cock & Bull in Newmarket (Auckland), settled to a clear brown with a foamy off-white head. A beautiful flowery hop aroma with a good earthy malt background. A good clean and crisp palate, a great flowery and fruity hop flavour with juicy malt. Goes more dry and bitter in the finish. Good enough to drink in pints.

12 May 2006 (AIBA 2006-Rating 11) - On tap. Big passionfruit, light malt aroma. Brown-red colour, good head and great sheet lacing. Sweet big passionfruit and big fruit flavour. Finishes big on fruit and a nice lingering nicely balanced aftertaste.
