The_Captain (331), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2008 On tap at the brewery- Slight hazy dull gold pour with small blue berries. Medium sudsy head. Light aroma of blue berries. Some hops and light malt body. The wife liked it, I thought it was Ok. kevd193213 (336), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Jun 14, 2008 7 oz sample. Slightly cloudy pour with medium frothy head. Aroma of, well, blueberries and wheat. Thin finish. Typical mediocre fruit beer. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA Jan 26, 2008 It really does look and taste like the golden ale with blueberries. I asked a bartender if it was, and he tried to convince me it was its own brewed beer. Either way, it has the eye candy novelty that girls and not your average beer drinker likes. Seems very popular with the locals, and most likely a permanant staple of the pub. Blueberry beer and blueberries in general seem to be very popular in RI. Personally i don’t really mind it at all. I could definitely drink a pint of this while just playing pool. nimbleprop (594), Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 19, 2007 The same transparent gold look of the Golden Ale, but either the blueberry extract or real blueberries used as a garnish helped promote a thick white head. Aroma is heavy on the blueberry. Flavor was delicious, the mix of blueberries and grains lend a taste of blueberry pancakes. Finish is watery but also a bit spicy. Novelty beer but drinkable. desurfer (1039), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Jul 14, 2007 It must be blueberry season in New England; in one form or another they’re on every menu I’ve seen so far. I’ve got to give a 5 for appearance not for the pale, cloudy yellow beer, but for the (formerly) dried blueberries in the glass giving off clouds of blue swirling in the beer. Aroma of (surprise!) blueberry with some sweet maltiness. Flavor has some sweet, tangy maltiness and a hint of hops, but this is dominated by blueberry. These types of beers usually turn out gross, but I truly enjoyed this. The fruitiness melds with the beer quite well. Nice job!
