TheCaptain (361), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2008 I had all the Coddington brews at the brew pub. Poured a caramel gold, long lasting foam head with lots of lacing. This had a hop texture with citrus (lemon) notes. Well put together. IMtheOptimator (1126), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Aug 5, 2008 Poured golden with a fizzy white head. Piney and bitter hop aroma with some bizarre notes of bubble gum esters. Flavor is bitter and metallic, with some pine hops showing through and lots of toffee in the malt sweetness. Hmm, between metallic, bubble gum, and toffee flavors, there’s a lot of "off" in this beer for me. kevd193213 (353), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Jun 14, 2008 Draught 7 oz sampler. Copper pour with thin white head. Aroma of floral aroma with faint bitter hops present. Taste of peppery hops. A little thin, middle of the road IPA. emerica56 (515), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Apr 26, 2008 Poured from a growler strait from the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a thick off white head and some laceing along the sides of the glass, but the head fades over time. The nose is of caramel citrus and some strong hops. Taste has a lot of bitter hops and a peppery spice in the aftertaste. There is some bready notes on the palate but there is a ton of pepper. Personally the peppery finish mixed with the bitter hops is somewhat enjoyable. I like my IPA’s very bitter but that pepper bite really makes the beer more palateable. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA Jan 26, 2008 Normal IPA scents of hops, and citrus chemical smell, only a little lighter or fainter than other IPA’s, or IPA’s that really try to impact you. There lack of an attempt to go above and beyond may really help this beer enjoyability for those with sensitive palates like me. Cutrus, bitter, and maybe even pepper notes (like the ratter says) are also noted. Easier to drink and smoother to drink than most IPA’s, another good effert from this pub.!
