COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark and full-bodied with a distinct coffee-like aroma. This stout has a rich dark malt and caramel flavor with a dry-roasted bitterness in the finish. Deep ruby to opaque black in color with a creamy tan head.

Sample at the brewpub on 7/3/13. Clear dark reddish brown in color with a thick beige head. Aroma of malt, roast and molasses. Malty and caramelly flavor with some chocolate before a dry, roasty finish.

An overlooked gem? Not a brew by numbers beer, some smoked malt, some anise baltic porter notes and a rich creamy feel packed into a tight 3.4% body. Nice concept and execution. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted sweet malt and a hint of roasted malt. Flavor is thin, chalky and roasted/charred malt. Not too bad, I was expecting worse given prior ratings. But the palate is pretty decent with lots of charred, roasty malt. Overall, a dry stout I enjoyed. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

(Rating #3170)

The loser of the bunch I sample ... Black pour off white head .... roasted coffee and malty aroma smells better than it tastes ..... taste of roasted malts and coffee very acidic with a bitter finish .... dark and dry but forgettable .... don’t save this one for last like I did

On tap at the brewpub. This beer was the ultimate hallmark of what’s wrong with the whole lineup - too many residual fermentables. There’s a lot of raw, unfermented residual sugars. Something needs to change with the fermentation strategy here, because the beers are too sweet and have that kind of sickly, un-done character. This stout was dark black, and too chewy, oily and too sweet for something that should be "dry" and well-balanced by roasted malts. More like a still-too-sweet stout. Better with some IPA added in.

My Bottom Line:
Caramel, roasted malts and coffee allusions mostly coalesce in this humble, one-dimensional Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the brown-edged blackness.
-The body of this one is pleasantly round for 3.5% abv, and it is not on nitrogen.
-The finish has roasted malts providing a tad of bitterness and some of the malts’ sweetness lingering.
-This is very drinkable (especially at this gravity), but it is ultimately forgettable.

On tap at the brewpub.

Part of a 7 beer, 7oz each sampler. For some reason I seemed to have a better experience than most of the other reviewers who have visited this place. I found that all the beers I sampled were very well done and true to their styles. None of them were exceptional but, even in the styles that I don’t usually go for I found them to be pretty good. Their stout was similar to Guinness in it’s low abv, creamy head, and dry bitterness.
