3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Ibrew Ginza. Rich red/dark amber colour. Small golden head. Aroma sweet and bit spicy. Taste is sweet and fruity. Dark fruit, plums? Sugary and a touch vinous. Bit of cinnamon and some vegetable, the sweet potatoes, I guess. Not bad.

333ml bottle. Lovely red colour. Nice malt aromas and taste. Can't really get the sweet potato taste, but intrigued by the idea.

Within seconds the head is gone and there’s just a fierce carbonation that makes me wonder whether i’ve cracked open a Coke. I must admit that I was almost scared to drink it on that basis.
The nose is pretty full-on, dominated by deep caramel, raisin, bread and something I can only describe as cough medicine - I guess that’s just the overwhelming alcohol. The taste is pretty consistent with the aroma and I can’t help that feel like I’m swigging Benadryl.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Beautiful - lovely dark amber/tawny colour. Very sweet nose - candi sugar, unfermentables, red cordial (!). Full body. A little sweet potato, sugar candy and a barely there finish. A bit lacking, though a nice little aside.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Deep brown with a haziness and a thin off white head. Odd, perhaps tart aroma. A bit malty with a sweetness of toffee, a bit of citrusy tartness, earthy, with a bit of the alcohol content present in the flavor. Different.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours reddish amber with a tiny tan coloured head and lively carbonation. Soft sweet malty and alcoholic aroma. Initial Co2 bite followed by an almost creamy body with plenty of crystal malts hints of roast and vegetable and a pleasant bitter finish.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle thanks to drabmuh. Served in a taster glass. Pours an orange-copper color with a tiny head of bubbles that falls quickly. The nose has some sweet potato and a touch of caramel. Flavor starts off with caramel, sweet potato, and bread, but then is taken over by a strange off dryness. Very odd. Body is light and off kilter. Not a big fan.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from King&Godfree. Nice beer, very malty, with a distinctive nose. Aromas of caramel, earth, and alcohol. Taste is sweet, with very light sourness, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a disappearing head.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Red pour, off white head. Aroma is a malt bomb. Lots of sweet toffee, caramel, maybe a hint of the sweet potato. Flavor is sweet, thick and incredibly malty. Not half bad.

Mahogany in color. Tan head, moderate lacing. Big malt aroma and taste all the way. Warm and inviting, bigger body than most lagers.
