3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 marcus (5104) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 29, 2013
Bottle from Davis Co-op. Pours reddish brown with a modest beige head and a Chocolate aroma. There is a sweet malt flavor, the sweetness probably mostly from the sweet potatoes. There is a slightly carbonated finish with a bitter aftertaste. Not bad.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 faroeviking (10300) - FAROE ISLANDS - MAY 15, 2013
Botella bought at a liquor store at Hiroshima Station. Deep amber brown colour with a red hue to it. Sweet dark / roastish malty caramel veggie berry aroma. Good mouthfeel. Sweet flavour with dark malts and caramel along with berries, veggies (potatoes) and some alcohol. Sweet strange alco brew... but I like it.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 GoufCustom (237) - HONG KONG - MAR 27, 2013
330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long; Virtually no head and residual white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Minimal lacing with little carbonation; light smell of cherry, red fruit, and orange; Medium to light sweet taste of light ale malt, liquorices, brown sugar, sweet potatoes and light alcohol; Light body, thin but slick palate. Taste profile resemble a somewhat lighter version of English Strong Ale, with pretty light weight cherry / red fruit character complemented by notes of sweet potatoes, all in a slick, boozy backdrop, which can be felt but not hard-hitting at 7% abv. Pretty nice. X’mas Ale - like mild hop astringency, which is sort of fluffy, comfy and inoffensive; Slighty dry after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: this is a half-successful, light weight version English Strong Ale, which is several cuts below the likes of Fuller’s Old Winter Ale and even lighter than the pretty average Shepherd Neame Christmas Ale. The effort is there, and the typical red fruit can be sniffed and tasted. The addition of sweet potatoes added some dimension in the palate, and its pretty boozy as well. Like the other Coedo brews, this one need some serious fine tuning in head retention, smell and taste to be a decent one. Sweet potoates may sounds like a silly gimmick, but it works quite well in this brew and shows its promise. Waiting for the good news!

330mL thanks to MrChopin’s sister! Pours a clear red, weaker tan foam to bubbles. Nose is fresh orange, cherry juice box, some fumey dark rum. Taste is clean, light orange and lemon tea, mild grenadine. Palate is clean, refreshing. Simple and enjoyable, though no hop presence.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mrhoppy (902) - Santa Clara, California, USA - MAR 2, 2013
Aroma- malt beverage, roasty sweet potato, potato skin,
Appearance- beautiful clear crimson red.
Taste- Big malty, sweet, roasty sweet potato,
Palate- slight bitter, slick.
Overall- I think this beer is getting a bum rap. But then again I see there are not to many fans of sweet potato, pumpkin and yam beers. I am not really into lagers but when I saw this had sweet potato I grabbed it. Kind of like an imperial malty Sam Adams with sweet potato.
