3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 buzzoven (376) - - FEB 6, 2010
Not sure why this is labeled as a "Premium Lager" on the label; seeing as this is no mere lager...this is a Premium beer however. Dark and malty and rich with a buttery smoothness and a caramel taste. Really bold and refreshing and round. More like an Alt. Highly enjoyable.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAY 18, 2012
Bottle thanks to drabmuh. Served in a taster glass. Pours an orange-copper color with a tiny head of bubbles that falls quickly. The nose has some sweet potato and a touch of caramel. Flavor starts off with caramel, sweet potato, and bread, but then is taken over by a strange off dryness. Very odd. Body is light and off kilter. Not a big fan.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 davidm (1361) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAR 29, 2012
Bottle from King&Godfree. Nice beer, very malty, with a distinctive nose. Aromas of caramel, earth, and alcohol. Taste is sweet, with very light sourness, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a disappearing head.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 daknole (5853) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Red pour, off white head. Aroma is a malt bomb. Lots of sweet toffee, caramel, maybe a hint of the sweet potato. Flavor is sweet, thick and incredibly malty. Not half bad.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 paultheguru (636) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 23, 2012
Mahogany in color. Tan head, moderate lacing. Big malt aroma and taste all the way. Warm and inviting, bigger body than most lagers.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 EdKing (937) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 28, 2011
Bottle from Kimuraya in Kagurazaka. Pours clear red with a big yellow/brown/off white head. Nose is metallic, light aromatic citirous bitter and malty. Taste is strong roasted toasty grain malt, then a lager like crisp hop bite. Body is fairly lacking so it’s very light. Crisp, sharp and roasted, but it feels like it’s lacking a bit of balance and too light. Finish is leaving a bit of a tang. Kind of fruity almost drinking shochu spirit.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (2169) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 9, 2011
330ml bottle poured amber in color with a small white head which left a thin lacing on the glass. Mild grains and hops in the aroma. Taste is light malty sweetness with a mild hoppy bitterness. Medium body and light carbonation leave an average mouthfeel. This is a very nice premium lager brew with a bit of a different flavor profile to it, probably due to the addition of the sweet potatoes.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 DYCSoccer17 (2788) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 14, 2011
11.25oz bottle purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. The aroma on this is very faint. Lightly sweet with some medicinal undertones. There just isn’t much going on here at all. Transparent ruddy amber body with a smallish, off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. Starts sweet and a bit sticky. Perhaps some molasses or brown sugar here. A bit metallic and herbal in the middle. Finishes with a fruity sweetness...maybe some cherries or something along those lines. The medicinal flavors creep through late. I have no clue what this beer is supposed to be. Light carbonation, fairly oily body.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bhensonb (7581) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 10, 2011
Bottle from the Folsom BevMo. Pours a clear dark ruddy copper/amber with a very transient beige head. Aroma is bready with a little hint of hop. Med + body. Flavor is slightly sweet, rather bready in a different way, and has some lightly spicy hop. Sort of like an amber ale, which is interesting for a lager. Worth a try. Might go well with food.
2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 gsmitty80 (1414) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 9, 2011
Interesting low ratings. While i will not contest that it is not a permium lager in the eyes of an american, this beer does have premium taste. Very thick and rich with a interesting hop profile with something i cant quite put m finger on and reading the description is probably the sweet potato.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bb (4888) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 30, 2011
Bottle. Brown beer with a tan head. Toffee and malt aroma. Caramel and toffee flavor. Medium bodied. Caramel and toffee lingers.
