COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coedo's beer is brewed from selected malts and hops with the technique of beer artisan, braumeister.

With the stark contrast of its clear golden hues and fluffy pure white head, this premium pilsener boasts a crisp refreshing taste. The name "Ruri" is Japanese for the gemstone Lapis, representing the pure clarity this beer abounds in.

Bottle (bottle conditioned). Pours with a hazy, fuller (deep for a pils) golden hued body with a medium sized white head that slowly fades. Low lace. Aromas are bready, malty, pils like rich character, mild DMS, hay, low sulfur. Otherwise clean yeast. Lightly fruity, nearly citrusy, tea, herbal like hop character. Flavors are quite sweet for a pils, massively under attenuated. Raw pilsner based wort flavor. Really sweet, iced tea, lightly metallic, medium bitter, lightly herbal hop character. Lingering bitterness. Grassy, hay, medium minerals. Lively bubbles, medium bodied. A bit sharp.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2014 Can from the local supermarket at home. Pours crystal clear blond colour with fluffy white head. Looks quite fizzy. Aroma is malty, lagery, and a bit vegetable. Bit strange. Taste is quite sweet, touch of fruitiness, but overall just quite like a regular lager. All in all, itís ok, and it might have been one of the first Japanese craft beers, but doesnít really taste that crafty to me. Rerate, 04/2014 Have heard Coedo are much better now, but still not convinced. Aroma is pleasantly fruity, but the taste is not really very nice. Sharp without being hoppy. More plastic than anything. Not horrible, but donít get why people rate Coedo. Would much rather have a malts.

Impressive pour, big white head and light amber body with lingering white head. Aroma is slightly grassy, but overall lacklustre. The flavour is initially an unusual sweetness and breadiness with a fairly mild finish. Left me rather underwhelmed.

Can from supermarket in Kagurazaka. Fairly typical lager with not a whole lot of exciting features. Pale yellow, medium head. Taste is a sweetish pilsener with a light dry bitter finish and a notable fruitiness to it from floral fruity hops, for a lager.

330ml bottle pours slightly hazy golden in color with a finger and a half of creamy white head which left some nice lacing on the side of the glass. Has a pleasing grainy aroma with a hint of grassy hops. Taste is grainy with some malty sweetness and a mild hoppy bitterness. Nice carbonation and a medium body leave the palate satisfied. This is a refreshing beer that I had while camping in Washington, which may explain why I gave it a higher rating than most.

Bottle from the Davis Co-Op. Pours pale gold with a 3 finger foamy white head. Grassy aroma. Near med body. Thereís a light breadiness with a decent amount of grassy hop. Then thereís an odd paperiness with a malt hinting of Near Beer. Thereís some malt sweet thatís well balanced, but it doesnít quite come off as an Urquell clone. Maybe that wasnít the intent. Drinks nicely.

11.25 oz bottle purchased at the Davis Food Co-op. Light grassy hops to start, which is followed by a little doughy, sweet pilsner malt. A little floral, and decently aromatic. Transparent golden body with a smallish white head present. Spicy, hoppy start, before this takes on a pretty striking vegetal complexion in the middle. Gets a little metallic towards the finish, and finishes fairly bitter with herbal and floral hops. This beer is just "dirty" for being a lager.

Bottle. Golden beer with a whitish head. Skunked aroma with malt. Malt and light citrus flavor. Medium bodied. Malt and light citrus lingers with liht mineral.

mile (2857) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 14, 2011
Bottle. Golden, very small and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty-grainy sweetish aroma, some bread. Body is medium, malty-grainy and sweetish flavor, some bread, faint grassy hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some bread, faint grassy hoopyness. Not really pils, more like not so good lager.

Clear golden body with lasting white head. Crisp taste, drinkable, hoppy, but only average to me.
