Fermented for an extended period of time, this dark brew boasts a stunning contrast between the glossy black tone of the beer and the smoothness of the modest pale head. This glossy black beer is called "Shikkoku," named after the famed elegant jet-black lacquer work of Japan.

Coedo Shikkoku has a thin, cream-colored head, a dark brown appearance, some bubbles clinging to the bottom of the glass, and a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of vegetable matter (spinach, celery, beet juice), dark malt, subdued sweetness, and a touch of char. Taste is of all that, with minimal bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Coedo Shikkoku finishes wet and soupy. Overall, for a beer with a vegetable soup character, itís drinkable. RJT

Little to no aroma. The head didnít last. Itís a beautiful cola black that has a light sweetness and medium bitter tones with a subtle salty taste. Medium body, with a long lasting sticky slightly soapy, liquorice after-taste. The taste and apperence are good, but the after taste sticks to the roof of your mouth and lingers, but not in a good way. Personally not a fan, but the name is cool!

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with good copper head. Nose is on roasted malt, dark coffee notes. Aroma is on toasted malt, creamy dark chocolate, light licorice, espresso notes, dry, floral, light vegetable notes, pleasant body, easy drinkable. Finish is on dark chocolate and vegetables.

Oaky chocolate aroma on this cola black beer. Coffee taste, quite light. A little empty on the pallet. Not a bad drop.

A little weak and watery compared to what I was expecting, but nonetheless not a bad beer. Not quite a stout.

>> Clear, deep cola pour with minimal tan foam. Weak retention. Soy and savory nose, licorice, mushrooms. Taste is licorice, strawberry, good roast slight mint. Palate isnít thin, mildly bitter. Not as impressive as other beers from Coedo but their highest rated because itís dark?

Pours dark brown, dark enough you canít see through it. The head is frothy and tan. The aroma is good malt but a bit watery, though not too much, as is the flavour. No, Iím not from Britain, itís just more fun to mispell words then to spell the properly. The finish is a richer class of barley malt but balanced so well, ordering another would not be commiting a ratemybeer offense.com
