Fermented for an extended period of time, this dark brew boasts a stunning contrast between the glossy black tone of the beer and the smoothness of the modest pale head. This glossy black beer is called "Shikkoku," named after the famed elegant jet-black lacquer work of Japan.

Pours dark brown, dark enough you can’t see through it. The head is frothy and tan. The aroma is good malt but a bit watery, though not too much, as is the flavour. No, I’m not from Britain, it’s just more fun to mispell words then to spell the properly. The finish is a richer class of barley malt but balanced so well, ordering another would not be commiting a ratemybeer offense.com

Belle noire, collet minuscule et petite dentelle. Aromes legers, cafe. C’est en bouche que cette biere revele sa grandeur. Tres belle longueur sur une petite amertume et les notes torrefies de cafe. Hummm

Bottle from Yamaichi. Nice mild chocolate nose with some sweet coffee added. Dark translucent brown. Light chocolatey initial / mid palate brings a jump in creamy sweetness / finish is mild and smooth. Medium body. All done well. A bit light bodied. Okay.

Bottle. Shiny jet black, with solid white medium head. Inviting aromas of treacle, black coffee, touch of spice. Nicely carbonated and balanced. Enjoyed the bitterness. Moreish flavours of roasted malts and biscuit, with plenty of the aforementioned coffee and chocolate. Medium body. Great stuff.

Pours black with a thin tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a smooth dry dark molasses flavor with a licorice finish.

Sweet nutty chocolate aroma. Bittersweet coffee, quite hoppy and fizzy, smokey finish. Pretty smooth and enjoyable dark brew.

Bottle. Dark pour with a mocha head. Hint of almond, chocolate, coffee. Has a sweet and almost milk-like warmth in the aroma. Relaxing. Medium body and lighter (than others) alcohol makes this easy to drink and enjoy. Well balanced sourness, sweetness and bitterness.

From the 350 ml. bottle with a little Japanese Script on it. The pour is dark brown to black with a modest head that fades. Very dark in color. The aroma is sweet and malty for the most part with an odd molasses thing going on. The body is medium to full and fairly creamy. The taste is incredibly sweet and malty with little to no hop notes found.

Bottle recieved chilled direct from the brewery. Similar in style to an english dry stout, but verging on the watery side. The usual suspect expected with roast malt, but very thin in the finish. Overall very dull, and whilst clean and sessionable, has nothing of interest.
