COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The feature of this non-filtered wheat beer is it's bright, smooth, slightly cloudy appearance. Through the use of wheat malt and specially chosen yeasts, this refreshing brew with fruity overtones, boasts a full bodied, yet smooth texture, which glides easily down the throat. With its distinctly individual flavor and smooth elegance, it has been named "shiro," meaning white.

0.33l bottle @ Blue Ribbon NYC. Light blurry in the glass, kinda golden/dark golden in color and it has a small quickly sidesticking just off-white top. Nice cloves on the nose, lots of hende yeast, and the banana zest is really present. Light peppery also in a way. Kinda surreal drinking this here in the waiting room, but I like it. It’s above average on the carbonation and the mouthfeel is almost a bit watery. Thin anyways. Easy to drink. Light heffe flavors, but it’s not as German as I like them. Somewhat peppery in the taste also and there are traces if cardboard. Not much, but it’s there. It’s also quite sweet this. Not much bitterness at all to be honest. Still, the beer itself is quite easy to drink, and not bad tasting at all. 14.06.2013

Bottled, BBE 14.02.08. Pours hazy pale yellow in color with a foamy whitish head. Fruity aroma with some sweet cantaloupe, wheat and mild spicy notes of clove being present. Sweet and a bit of sour wheaty notes at the same time in flavor. Sweet and light spicy in aftertaste.

Bottle from Grand Epicerie. Smells kind of sweet and sour. Yellowy whit beer looking. Tastes good. Nice and soothing. It’s very hot here today. Curvacious body. A really good beer for a whit beer.

Bottle received chilled direct from the brewery. Pretty much what I was expecting, standard wheat beer. Unfortunately lacking in anything to make it stand out, but by no means bad, just no real wheat aromas and the taste is very subtle.

Bottle from Davis Co-op. Pours light amber with dark floaties, a thin off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a medium-bodied wheat flavor that is rather sweet, with a dry finish.

330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Cloudy, hazy pale copperish straw gold colour, very odd and difficult to describe, plus residual dirt-like yeast sediments; One finger head with white foam which last for about 1 minute; Small lacing with some carbonation; Good aroma of banana, vanilla, esters, clove and spices; Fizzy, very tart taste of malt, yeast, caramel, clove, spices, citrus and faint glass; Light body, minimally sweet and crisp palate with initially very strong tartness, plus clove and spicey profile throughout; Hoppiness is much stronger than most German hefeweiss, with lingering lemon and pretty sharp grass and mid-level astringency as finish; Dry and crisp after taste, quite easy to mouth.

Comments: This one is a chimera, with mixed results: very odd colour, decent head and foam, good typical hefeweiss aroma, taste a bit too tart (tolerable though), and a very un-hefeweiss hoppiness. If they can fine-tune the tartness and colour, it has the potential to be one of the top dogs. For now, the sum of its parts doesn’t fully add up with rooms for improvements. Nice tasting exercise and worth a try.
