Fourth stop during the ABA Beer Tour ’07 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Sampled on tap at the downtown brewpub. Received the last tasting of this batch during my visit. (lucky me!) Pours a clear brownish amber brew with a nice off-white head that dissolves to a fine film. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, vanilla, and flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of caramel, citrus zest and a touch of toffee. Finish has a good balance of malt and hop bitterness at first. Then a citrus bitter stays around.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 BarePaw (148) - Pullman, Washington, USA - MAR 21, 2004
It has a very distinct flavor that sets it apart from other ambers. It is a sort of bitter, roasted flavor. It is definatley hoppier than other ambers.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 drismyhero (815) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 5, 2004
The first thing that really struck me here was the great roastiness in the malt, which struck a good balance with the hops, allthough there is room for improvement. The aroma is nice and full as is the flavor, but the Coeur d'Alane signature is here in full swing: strong grains which somehow fall off the palate through a flush of bitterness.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 21, 2003
Excellent roasted character. This beer is round and well balanced. Nice bitterness in the finish.
