On draught at the Spokane taproom. Aroma is yeasty, bready notes forward with no real hop character. Appearance is a solid yellow with a well retained white head. Flavor is solid grainy/sweet malt blended with citrus hop character forward. It has low bittering with a clean sweet finish. Mouthfeel is medium/low bodied with slight creaminess and a low carb texture. Overall, clean and extremely easy drinking.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - NOV 27, 2010
On tap at the brewery in August 2009.
A: Light gold slash straw colored with very minimal head.
S: A little bit going on here. Mostly a grainy/corn-type scent, but nothing seems too out of place. Some residual sweetness as well. Mild hop presence.
T: Much like the smell, this one is mildly sweet and would be a good introduction to non-lagers, but there’s really nothing at all special about it, other than the lack of diacetyl, which most of this place’s beers had.
M: Moderately creamy and medium bodied.
D: Fairly drinkable. Not much taste, but fairly light and refreshing.
Serving type: on-tap

Tap @ Alehouse, called "Vandal Gold" in Moscow. The surprise of the evening... Pours a lighter golden color with a large white head. Aroma is grainy, malty, and light wheat. Taste has little hops, but really emphasizes a grain and malt harmony. Light wheat notes kept it crisp with no real bitters. Actually quite pleasant for the typical’intro’ house brew. What the hell, the Vandals might as well have something good now and again...

LIght golden color with a flimsy white head. Scents of pale malt, light fruit and floral hops. Simple flavors with some malt and grain. A touch of hops which adds to the fruitiness of the brew kicks in mid swallow. Finish is lightly sweet and simple.

Fourth stop during the ABA Beer Tour ’07 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Sampled on tap at the downtown brewpub. Pours a golden pale blonde brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a fine film. Aroma of very light and could just barely pick up the bread-like-malt, honey, flowery hops, and some sweet apples. Taste is soft, light bodied with little carbonation. Flavors picked up include light malt, and some faint sweet apples. Finish is light, crisp and hardly any bitterness.
