COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our traditional English-style porter. This beer combines the full, rich flavors of specialty roasted malts and select two-row grains.

On draught at the Spokane taproom. Aroma is chocolate, with sweet roast and cream. Appearance is dark brown with a tan head that is well maintained. Flavor is light cream flavor forward, followed by roast and a clean finish. Simple, but quite good. Mouthfeel is creamy, with a medium/high body and some roast grain texture. Overall, this is a good English-styled porter (yes, I know that sounds a little redundant); very simple, keeping it easy drinking, but flavorful enough to be a really tasty beer.

On tap at the brewpub in Coeur d’Alene in August 2009. Couldn’t put this review in with the rest of my backlog earlier, as this place was listed as closed for a period of time. Pours a moderate brown color with a half-finger tan head and not much lacing, just a few bubbles around the edges. The nose is a bit plain, but has some roasted malt and a bit of light chocolate. The taste is about the same. Nothing too offensive, just dull. The feel is moderate with a medium body and typical carbonation. Drinks well enough but isn’t all that sound. Tap @ Alehouse: Dark brown with a small tan head. Smooth aroma is roasty with light toffee notes. Tastes true to the English porter style with nuts, roast, light sweetness, and faint cocoa. Nice.

A darker version of the Lakeside. Dark brown color with a small ecru head. Floor malt and caramel aromas. Hints of floral hops. Flavors of the malt and toasted to roasted grains come through quite well. Nutty finish and linger.

I love this beer. I live on it in the winter. I get it both at the Steam Plant in Spokane and at the original site on Lakeside in Coeur d’Alene (formerly T.W.Fishers). It’s only mildly heady from the tap but is well carbonated. Its taste is somewhat simple but quiet excellent. The malts are rich and full, the hops are pleasant but somewhat understated. It’s a true Porter and not a mislabeled stout. I’ve never been anything but happy to drink this Porter.

Aroma – Dark malt aroma with coffee and toffee hints.
Appearance – Dark black in color, thin head and clear.
Flavor – Great dark roasty malt flavor. The chocolate and coffee like flavors came through very nicely.
Palate – Good Mouthfeel, nice texture with a coffee like finish.
Overall – A very good porter. One of the better beers for this place for this day. Loved the flavors .

Draft at the CdA brewpub. Flavorful porter, although quite one/two dimensional. Very straight forward - flavor is dominated by roasted malts and coffee undertones. Very dry - bitter coffee finish. As far as porters go, I think this is quite solid and a safe choice.

Dark dark brown with a light off white head. Aroma of coffee, some light hops and roasted malts. Flavour was nicely sweet and roasted coffee. Nice touch of bitterness at the finish. Nice flavour but I think it could thicken up to add a denser richer body.

Draught @ CDA in Spokane: Dark, very dark brown, cola highlights, moderate to large frothy beige head, decent lacing.   Moderate roasted malt nose, slight bittersweet cocoa, very soft hop presense.   Seems a little bit lactic too.   Mild cocoa like bitterness on the tongue, roasty, slighty chalky, a little dry.   I like this one because it is not overly hoppy/green.   Average body and mouthfeel.   A little tangy on the finish, actually quite tangy, dry cocoa, mild hop bitterness, and moderate roasted malts linger.   Not half bad!   Next up, Vanilla Bourbon Stout.
