COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Our beer really tastes great with all types of food, but one of the characteristics of the original family recipe was that the taste of the beer wouldn't overpower the natural flavor of the spices found in the food. Rather than leave the aftertaste of a sharp beer, Coffaro 'Italian Style' finishes with a smoothness that compliments the spices found in so many cuisines." Brewed and bottled by Lion, Inc, Wilkes-Barre, PA under Licensing Agreement with Coffaro Beer Marketing Company of Brick, NJ.

(bottle - 12 oz) Slightly cloudy peach color with not much of a head to speak of. Some light dashes of white. The light aroma is kind of sweet. Almost like cotton candy with a hint of grass. Sweet taste of apple juice and some sour hops at the beginning with a watery middle and a warming and semi-bitter hop finish. Slightly sour aftertaste and very thin-bodied.

THOUGHTS: This was a gift from a coworker, who obviously had a beers of the world case sitting around for a few years and didn’t realize beer can go bad and decided he’d give it to the beer guy of the office. Well it was skunked. I normally won’t rate a skunked beer, but since I don’t think it is made anymore, I will never have the chance to rate it again, I think I will rate it. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a cloudy, medium to dark dirty yellow with virtually no head that somehow left fair lacing. The aroma was mostly vinegar. The flavor started sweet and finished sour acidic and a little acetic with an average to short duration. There was corn, sweet malt, skunk, dust and metal. The light to medium body was like watery syrup with soft to flat carbonation and a metallic and light to moderate astringent finish.

Nah - not good. Cloudy, dirty yellow color and odd taste. It’s spicy, but not in a good way. Definitely not one of my top picks (or one of my mid-range picks, or even a lower level pick). It’s just plan old not good - down there with Bud and Miller.

I tried this, to see. Poured very fizzy with huge head. No aroma? tasted like bud, at first. As it wamed some good tones came out. But stil. Nothing great

I have had worse. Big head initially which goes away just as fast. Aroma of something that I can't place but not that great. Flavor is slightly acidic and very thin. Slight hops finish and is quite dry. An ok lager but can't remember the last time I saw Italians drinking beer with their ziti.

At first this beer was not that delicious, but I have quickly warmed to it. I enjoy the delicious taste, although it is too expensive.

A bit fizzy, much like the macro-swill it could be mistaken for. However, when it warms, this beer reveals a character that’s hidden when it’s ice cold. Sadly, few will taste those flavors, but this is a respectable, family-brewed Italian lager with enough flavor to be respectable.
