A classic English best bitter, copper in colour. Whole leaf Boadicea hops for flavour and the definitive aroma of East Kent Goldings.

Cask Conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Hazy amber with no head. This was a drying malty bitter with a nutty, Brazil Nut, background. There was also a pronounced popcorn type taste, slightly strange but ok.

Cask. Definite scent of stewed tea and sour biscuit. Pours copper amber with lace top more smear than coating. Well balanced soft blended hop fruit and biscuit malt. Gentle carbonation and soft coating of the palate. A pretty good session bitter and they are less common than you think.

Cask @ the Mill, Cambridge. Reddish-brown bitter. What it lacks in head it makes up for in clarity. Floral, leafy and bready aroma. Taste starts with a sharp bitter with sweet edges, then fades to an intense bitter-sour with a papery dry finish. Refreshing. Reminiscent of Adnams Southwold, but I think this beer just shades it. Very happy to make its acquaintance.

Cask, The King’s Head, Leicester. Amber gold with an off white foam. Aromas are caramel and biscuit with spritzy lemon and stewed apple. Peppery with weetabix and autumn leaves. Flavours are sweet cookie malts with nutty husk notes. Peppery with yeast and bitter lemon. Even a little champagne woodiness. Nice.
