Had this brew at G.A.B.F. 08’. Aroma is sweet like a barley wine. Color is brown, near black with a thin tight tan head. Flavor is a disappointment, its thin with a watery barley wine like taste. This is not a good brew it just too thin and watery.

Found this one canned at Dan’s Liquor in Plover, Wisconsin. Dark brownish red pour with a thinnish white head, typical brown ale nose of bitter chocolate and roasted barley, some sweetness of molassas, and rk brownish copper brew with an average light beige head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted dark malt, milk chocolate, a touch of brown sugar and flowery hops. Biscuity flavor, hard to classify, but very good, a bit of pepper and spice. Strong but soft finish. Very decent.

Sampled from bottle: Pours a dark but clear reddish brown colour with a small to medium sized tan head. Aroma is of soft roasted malts, maple syrup, milk and possibly hint of chocolate. Taste is sort of dull, refreshing and clean but needs raise it up a notch in the flava department.

Bottle from Keils. Ruby in color. Strong sweet & sour aroma. Somewhat odd sour flavor with a bit of roasted maltiness in the finish. Not too bad, but not the greatest beer mixture.

This one had a deep opaque ruby color and a beige head. Light to medium body with a slight chocolate sweetness to the malt and enough hops to balance. A good session beer.

Dark brown color with a thin head. Sweet malt aroma. Some cardboard. Flavor is nothing but wet and moldy cardboard. Blah.

12 oz bottle from Hi-Time. Dark mahogany/garnet color with a light beige/tan head. Really interesting aroma; dark roasted malt, chocolate, and something floral or herbal. Medium body with mild, light, creamy carbonation. Flavor is rather mild roasted dark malt with a little coffee, perhaps chocolate behind it. Finish is a little sweet, but there’s a little sour note to help offset that. Mixed porter and bock. Certainly goes down well.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a dark brownish copper brew with an average light beige head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted dark malt, milk chocolate, a touch of brown sugar and flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of roasted dark malt with a mild biscuit character, a touch of chocolate and a little white pepper. Finish is semi-sweet, a mild roasted dark malt aftertaste with a touch of flowery hops. Hard to classify what kind of beer this is but still a solid beer.
