2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 phishpond417 (2089) - Madison, USA - SEP 9, 2008
Sampled from bottle: Pours a dark but clear reddish brown colour with a small to medium sized tan head. Aroma is of soft roasted malts, maple syrup, milk and possibly hint of chocolate. Taste is sort of dull, refreshing and clean but needs raise it up a notch in the flava department.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 FURLYSURIOUS (185) - Orono, Minnesota, USA - MAR 29, 2012
This whole series from Cold Spring has become my go-to disc golf beer. Each one I’ve tried has been more than decent, it’s cheap and it’s a big old can... gotta love it.
Pours an oaky amber orange with a slight off-white head, average lacing. Nose has some mellow, sweet malts. Toasted bread, sweet grains. Pretty nice. The taste is smooth, subtle. Subdued enough to drink a 32 oz can. Just a dialed back version of a high quality black and tan. Totally drinkable. Not too sweet. This beer is a bargain.
Serving type: big ass can

Woody brown brew with ring of head. Richly caramelized melanoidin breathes titillate the nose. Wonderful, oxidated, marsala notes lazily lope off the glass. Rich melanoidin and biscuit body. Medium-bodied, even a bit thin for the sweet marsala notes that gently pluck across the palate. Enjoyable and quite underrated.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Blairgus (1189) - California, USA - OCT 26, 2011
26 oct 2011, 32 oz can. Light nut brown, clear, no bubbles, thin foamy head. Beery, bready malt nose. Full/med body and faintly fuzzy. Slightly tart caramel malt flavor is all. Meh
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 alexanderj (2851) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - SEP 10, 2011
Bottle; poured an auburn brown color with off white head. Aroma of caramel, brown malt, with a bit of vegetable. Flavor had a bit more fruit, with some noticable vegetable notes. For the brewery, its just ok.

Light fruit in the aroma, the flavor is very funky with dark fruits. This is really all over the place in the taste, it’s interesting but not something I’d have all the time.

WOW! The best beer out of this brewery that I have ever tried. Aromoa has pineapple and subtle grain notes. Deep amber brown color and creamy, long lasting head. Nice, sweet malty taste well balanced with a light hoppy finish. I do taste the same malt as I do in their Olde Johnny Ale but this has a better palate and balance. WELL DONE Cold Spring!
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Vir4030 (391) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 7, 2011
Pours a dark maroon with a thin head. Aroma of grapes and flavor too. Seems more like a cheap wine than a beer.

clear brown color, medium tan head, hint of lace. nose is malty, somewhat musty. sweet malty flavor, but not much else going on. medium bodied, sweet finish. not very challenging, but i love the 32 oz "double pint" can format.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 DuffMan (4423) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 28, 2010
Ridiculously large can-- more likea small oil drum, shared with Parksy. Pours a clear medium brown with a medium almond coloured head. Aroma is dark caramel with brown bread nuances. Flavour initially is not bad-- brown bread, caramel, nutty nuances, but the palate is so thin and the finish is non-existent. I suppose there is value to be had here, given the size of the can, but definitely not a beer I’d return to for any other reason.

Big ass can. Pours a bruin body with a tan head. Sweet and mineralic, light nuttiness, a hint of toasted malt and light sweetness. Thin body and no real warmth. Better than what you’d expect from the container.
