COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cold Boy Pale Ale has been designed to offer pale ale with real taste and aromatic impact. The initial bitterness is followed by a surprising sweetness culminating with a long dry finish.

500 ml bottle. Pale golden body with a big, fluffy white head that fades quickly. Light aroma of caramel. Flavor is light malty, some caramel and low bitterness. No obvious faults but deadly boring. This is not just a light and subdue ale, it’s a beer made with no depth or inspiration. It’s far below average. Come on Coldboy, you can do better than this.

Bottle, traded with Cunningham. Smells lagerish, with biscuity malt and some grassy hops, maybe slightly citrusy. Oh, and some sulphury notes seem to shimmer through. Light body, subtly sweet taste with a with a light to medium bitterness. Dry, hoppy, grassy finish. May be good as a summer refreshment but ultimately it’s just boring.

Bottle from a trade with Cunningham, thanx a lot, my friend!
Great bottle design. Pours strong golden yellow with small head. Smells hoppy sweet and very fruity. Starts with very fruity hops, slight bitter, comparable to a british bitter ale. Goes into a fruity sweetish finish with some aroma hops. My wife loved it :-)

Bottle from Ultra enjoyed at home
Golden clear, white head. Smells of malts, bread, some spice and english hops of the weak kind. Moderate sweet, quite dry mouthfeel, malts, some spicy notes. Besides that it’s quite clean. Moderate bitter, some faint hops. For me this beer miss some real hop character. English hops can be fantastic but in this one they are not very present at all. As always i also want to complain about the clear bottle

Bottle. Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Nose is lager-like grassy wet paper tones with some fruity hints and not much else. Taste is also very lager-like for an English Pale Ale, with pale malts and crisp notes of wet paper and grass - only moderate smooth fruity tones appear once in a while. Light body, medium carbonation. Boring, but fair enough from the "Askim" brewery (it’s actually brewed somewhere in England but at least the marketing is from Askim... :-P)

Clear bottles take away all the fun, I knew that this one would pour a crystal clear, light golden to amber body even before I opened the bottle! The head is small, frothy, white and short-lived, and doesn’t leave much lacing. The aroma isn’t very nice or exciting at all, there are some not so fresh notes of wort and cereals up front, while some nice-ish fruits and citrus can be found in the back. This smells more like a pale lager than a pale ale to me, but I guess that’s because I expect american hop levels whenever I drink a pale ale. The taste has an existing light sweetness that lasts for a very long time, it never fades out as the light bitter finish sets in. The flavours are far better than the aromas, with sweet caramel, fruits and citric hints. Unfortunately there are also some vague metallic notes, but they are noticeable only in the few first sips. It’s a crisp, refreshing and thirst quenching beer, and it feels rather dry with a not too light body. Not a bad bitter(?), but incredibly boring compared to the Stout from the same brewer.

50 cl clear bottle from Centra Høvik. Pours clear golden with a very small off white head that escapes at once. Flat carbonation, some hoppy aroma and quite watery. It has potencial but need some more work to it.

500ml bottle bought at Meny Oslo City. Clear golden body, no head. Smell of hard water with fruity hints. Subdued taste of sweet fruits with notes of earthy malts. Brief bitter endnotes. Anonymous, indeed, no side notes though (hotel room, Oslo 11.12.2012).

Medium offwhite head. Clear coppery body with carbonation. Caramelly nutty aroma with perfumy papery notes. Dry-sweet caramelly toffee taste with perfumy fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish caramelly nutty toffee aftertaste with papery notes. Nice, fairly full-flavoured, but a bit artificial-tasting. Tastes much more like a UK pale ale (that is, a bitter) than a US pale ale. (0.5l bottle, Meny Oslo City.)
