chrisbroadie (13) - Wakerley, AUSTRALIA - OCT 15, 2014
Poured from Stubby Ar: Not much to speak of, slightly herby / Ap: Somewhat cloudy, not really true to style, pale, small white head which dissipates quickly / T: med sweet, lightly bitter which hangs about long after the mouthful. / P: light body, thin and lively, long bitter finish / O: Pretty drinkable to be fair to it, calling it a "Czech Pilsner" is a bit of imaginative marketing (or a real attempt that hasnt quite hit the mark). Decent all the same and will go back for more, just ignoring the Czech bit otherwise it which causes minor disappointment.

330ml bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Rating from January 2014. Pretty basic pilsener but certainly not the worst that I have had. Could do with a bit more body.

BB 21/11/14. Poured a slightly hazy golden colour with 5mm of white froth that diminished slowly to a collar that gave spots of lacing. Carbonation high and fine. Aroma of sour grain malts, no hops evident. Taste of malt sourness and a tangy after-taste. Light body. Terrible.

So a Czech Pilsner hey. Bold style to attempt to be honest from an Australian brewer. Let’s see how this one fares.
Pours with little oomph; a deep gold with fine and sparse carbonation. A little white on the meniscus otherwise it is short a head. Grassy, spicy but slightly vegetal, hop dominated nose with enough biscuity, toasted malt for balance. Initial, sweet, chewy toasted malts give way to a rubbery, low hop finish. Tangy with a highly astringent finish. A little unclean too. Hard to tell the body as my tongue was in a fizzle but the carbonation is low. Sickly sweet and doused with acetaldehyde to boot. Couldn’t finish unfortunately, even with the above average nose! (33cL, BB 19/10/14, Dan Murphy’s Currambine)

Weak hoppy aroma, clear golden colour, quickly disappearing head, dry finish and pleasant fruity hop flavours. It’s OK.

Pours amber with a quickly fading head. Nose shows spicy hops and biscuity malt. Some sweet notes underneath. Similar flavours; grainy, nutty malt and soft spicy and grassy hints. Carbonation seems a bit full-on.

Pours a clear golden color with a fair head that fades to bites of lacing. Aroma of citrus a bit of malt sweetness and fresh grain. Taste of some citrus and malt sweetness with some grain in the background Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Light body, mild crispness, smooth, but a tad too sweet. Decent drinker, not bad for a small brewer in the middle of the Yarra Wine Region. I beleive this might be a reformulated version of their "Pilsener", with a slightly higher 4.8% ABV.
