1/19/08 On draught at the Portland brewhouse. Aroma has a strong smoky character with malt sweetness and no hop character. Appearance is very dark brown with a rather low tan head. Flavor is roasted sweet malt with very low bittering, but some nice C-hop flora to balance. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carb texture. Overall, farly good, and need to remind all to drink it while it’s still cold, the heat really makes this one fall apart.

This was a decent stout, lighter in the body with a very hoppy finish. Chocolate and coffee flavors come out up front, lighter on the malt side. Finish was a bit to hoppy for my tastes, felt like the bitterness overwhelmed the malts up front. Still a nice stout and another nice beer from the collaborator project.

[Tap - Rose and Raindrop] Due to I know the amature brewer behind this Craig congratulations you did a good job, This truly American Hopped stout was good stuff. Good dark black color with a great amount of hops for us in the Northwest. Wish it had more of a malty flavor that stouts need but this was a good drinking stout. Nice job. And to start out as an Extract Brew we Extract brothers Salute.
