Draught at Lucky Lab Big Beer and Barleywine Festival. Dark brown pour with a light tan head that fades quickly. Big roast and smoke flavors and aromas with the pumpernickel and rye backing it up nicely. Some coffee and cinnamon as well. Solid brew.

Draught. Poured Red/brown with medium white head. Rye bread, toasty and cinnamony aroma. Full rye aroma with more notes of chocolate, coffee and bread. Black coffee finish.

Favors of cream, hops. brown sugar. very thin head over cloudy dark brown (on tap at its a beautiful pizza). creamy in the mouth, a little flat. Do I really taste the rye. there’s molasses, resin hops and smoke.

Tap @ The Horse Brass... Poured deep ruby with a thin head. A nice caramelly, rye malted brew. A tiny bit of hops for balance, but the pumpernickel played really nicely here. A little roasted and smoked quality to balance the alcohol notes. I’m not usually into a lot of rye beers, I was skeptical of this one, but given all the attention around it I thought I’d give it a shot. Pretty good choice.
