On tap at the PDX Green Dragon. Pours orange/amber with a small white head. The rye wasn’t the focus on this beer, just a big old bitter hopped up pale/ipa. Slight rye fruitiness to the malts, but I can’t say it gave it much character. At first I thought they poured me the wrong beer, still decent beer, but not the rye character I was expecting.

Light headed beer, a bit of piney/hoppyness that was very present. And of course a very smooth finish with the rye.

Sampled at OBF. Assertive hops with a dry, bitter finish. Comes off pretty light and not much malt presence.

7/19/08 On draught at the Brewpub. Aroma is sweet/sour malt forward with light fresh hop flora. Appearance is clear gold with a well maintained white head and good lacing. Flavor is earthy noble hops forward and very light on malt character. There’s also an odd starchy flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium carb texture and starchy finish. Overall, the blend of hops make this a little funky.

Sampled at the Oregon Brewer’s Festival in July ’08. Very spicy and tasty pale ale. Smooth and hoppy balance. Rye added an interesting touch.
