Rhyme & Reason, Extra Pale Ale American style pale ale. The flavour and aroma of Citra, Centennial, Chinook and Simcoe hops prevail without excessive bitterness for maximum drinkability. Malt sweetness of Pale Ale, Crystal Carafoam and Wheat Flakes in the background complements the hops for a crisp finish. 5.7 ABV 55 IBUs (Bottles and Draft)

Tapped at Silversmith Brewing Company in Niagara on the Lake/Ontario/Canada. Aroma of citrus hops, golden and copper color, almost clear. Off white head, stable and kept a good 5mm level. Taste starts with a lot of malt yet quickly turns into bitter hops. Tasty bitter hops finish. Overall refreshing and a very very good pale ale!

Really nice golden pour with a white head. Strong aroma of gorgeous citrusy hops, exceptionally fresh and natural smelling. Very bitter for such a light bodied beer, this one is purely about hops. A complex bitterness that slowly develops on your tongue, simcoe hops really shine. Dry and fairly light, refreshing and summery.

Rating is a weird thing. I always feel like a couple of the criteria are gimmes. Mostly Appearance. What in the world is a bad looking beer? Cloudy? Too dark or light? Not enough head? None of those really. But with Rhyme and Reason poured into my curved Junction English Pint glass this beer looked unbelievable. It was a lovely golden near the edges of the glass, and through the center, an orange. A thin, yet dense white head that was president, literally, topped it off. That’s a five. The beer itself had a nice nose of hops citrus, and a little resin. The taste was hoppy, citrus, resin and floral. Strong but not overwhelming. The malts in the flavours are simple breads and cereal. Nice finish with some hops bitterness. Really good beer. It just made my regular rotation.

Pours a semi-translucent amber. White head with moderate lacing.Aromas of orange, and light pine. Even a bit of butterscotch. Light refreshing mouth feel. Citrus up front with hints of malt on the finish. Some definite sweetness going on in the mix. Some orange peel creeping in there.Billed as an extra pale ale, this would satisfy IPA fans. Great mix of flavor and drinkability. Most sessionable beer I’ve had in a while.

Scent of pine, hops, and lemon peel. Clear orange colour. Flavour of ginger, nutmeg, and hops. Mild bitterness with lightish body and light carbonation. A tasty session beer.

2014-04-05. Hazy dark orange body, nice frothy white head. 3+ Aroma is pleasantly hoppy, notes of grass, green hops and citrus melange. Flavour is fairly bitter throughout, pleasantly so, moderate citrus throughout, tangerine and grassy dry hops in the finish, bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. 7+ Smooth average plus palate is pretty carbonated, almost just a touch too much so. Quite enjoyable and very quaffable. Bottle

Bottle thanks to Chad. Pours clear orange gold with white head. Nose/taste of citrus, toasted pine, resin, toasted malt, grassy hops and sugared grapefruit. Medium body. Dryish finish.

My Bottom Line:
Juicy citrus fruit evolve into sizeable resinous bitterness within this Pale Ale’s bready malt sweetness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam covers the hazy straw yellow.
-The big yet soft bubbles feel natural.
-The bread-laden residual sugars are a bit too much for my liking in this type of brew.
-Hops are enticing from aroma to finish.
-Drinkability is high.

Bottle. Merci, Luc!

355ml bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a thin off-white head. The nose is heavy with resinous notes, with grapefruit, and a faint whiff of well, pot. Lighter bodied with big resinous notes up front that follow through to the finish with light malt, an herbal note, heavy mineral notes, and citrus pith.

Bottle at Supermarket, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma and flavour brings out fresh doughy malts, sweet cereal, and piney hops. Good solid pale, but nothing overly special.
