COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our unfiltered amber lager is an old, rare, and rather unique German style. Wholesome and buttery, with toasty, bready malts and hints of caramel and toffee, Berne is a smooth and naturally cloudy beer with grassy hops that deliver subtle balance to the palate. Malty, yet dry, simple yet elegant.

Crystal clear amber colored pour underneath a sizable white head that is slow to recede and leaves plenty of lacing behind. Smells of creamed corn and malt. Tastes the same, but with an out of place bitterness. A twang. Dry and not very malty. Simple, yet not elegant. Not the best example of a Vienna.

Bottle. Cloudy brown with a cream foam. Aromas are toffee, caramel and rains with pear and hints of banana. Yeasty with chocolate. Lightly spiced with herbal notes. Flavours are sweet weetabix and toffee with autumn fruit and light citrus. Yeasty on the finish. Decent.

Slightly farty eggy aroma. Deep hazy amber. Bread in the aromas too, and grainy. Taste is also grainy - sweet barley. A touch husky. Finish is a touch husky too, but with a pleasant biting bitternesss laster. Fresh hops in that, in fact, and certainly an approvement on the inauspicious start.

Bottle. A light amber colour with a high light tanned head. Not that long lasting. Fruity, spicy and a little sweet aroma and taste. A medium body.

Bottle from Peter’s RBSG. Yellow brown pour with standard white head. Aroma is light of rice wine and caramel malt. Flavor wise the caramel malt is primary. Background notes of rice and a slight white vinegar kick. Crisp finish with little flavor staying around for long. Distinctly average.
