COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our unfiltered amber lager is an old, rare, and rather unique German style. Wholesome and buttery, with toasty, bready malts and hints of caramel and toffee, Berne is a smooth and naturally cloudy beer with grassy hops that deliver subtle balance to the palate. Malty, yet dry, simple yet elegant.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy bronze appearance. Strange aroma upon opening.. Poured with a small head and was pretty flat. Nice modern label which was more interesting than the beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines. Amber. Nice head. Nice bottle design too. Simple, bold, eleganted. A bit like Damian Lewis, the ginger actor or ’jacktor’; I love wordplay. Pleasant slooshy beer. Flavour of wholemeal toast scratched with honey - Oliver Reed/Castaway reference there, for the eagle-eyed amongst you (no one). X.

bottle, Rehills, Ncl. Bready sweet aroma, with toasted sweet malt flavours. Has a fine fruity palate, with the faintest chalky hints and more pleasant bread notes in the finish. Mid brown amber colour, this is an easy drinking, tasty brew.

500ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a large head. Aroma is bread, sour dried fruits and some poo. Quite faint. Taste has caramel, bread and dried fruits. Not offensive, just quite a lack of flavour.

50cl bottle, thanks to unstablefable. Pours cloudy or rather muddy brown. The nose has honey nut, soggy cornflakes. The taste has more of the cornfakes but with much more hops - gives a grassy/herby finish. The palate has a light to medium body with a simlar texture and a clean long finish. Overall, better than the sum of its parts. Overall

Bottle at home in London, shared with Lyoli after a long day of cleaning, cycling, Kernel and London Fields. Pours cloudy amber with a fine, filmy white head. Nose holds lots of doughy toast. Medium sweet flavor, some toasty cereal, toasty sugar, some toasty dough. Yep. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Mild sweet finish, more of the same toasted malts, toasted dough and cereal, very mild toasted hay bitterness. It’s a fine dark lager. Quite refreshing overall, with very few faults - if any. I like this.

Bottle 500ml.

Clear medium amber colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, toasted - caramel, caramel malt. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120122]
