COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Occasional & Bottled;
A bright amber ale, smooth initially with a slight hint of the Munich malt coming through from the grist. This is complemented well by the stronger refreshing taste from this well hopped beer. Named after the unusual mural of a headless dog at the front door to the brewery.

Bottled, from The Drink Store, Dublin. Clear pale amber, rich head. Floralhay aroma. Fairly sweet with light-medium body and rounded, vital mouthfeel. Rich on english hops. Sweaty hay-like bitterness. A nice bottled bitter.

Cask @ PorterHouse, Dublin.

Cask at the FFTMC beer festival, Oxford, 26.03.11 Pours light amber with a tiny white head that in fact is more just a light film. Good clarity another good looking beer, however this one (on the bar) was just a tiny bit warm. Lacking a little zest, old fashioned taste there is a sort of licking dusty walnut shells flavour to this, maltiness, its ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask @ Porterhouse Temple Bar. Dull amber. Simple earthy, caramelly aroma. Earthy, caramelly with some herbal hop. A little bit of acidity late. Decent bitter.

Cask conditioned at The Bell, Banbury. Amber with white head. Malty, yeasty type bitter with a distinct nutty character, or should that be nuggety? There is a baked malt note with a doughy foreground, some hop but quite indistinct. it’s reasonable without getting interesting.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2011 Cask conditioned @ Porterhouse Temple Bar. Nice coppery hue with no head though, looks flat and gassy, maybe the glass was not so clean? Aroma of sweet nutty malts. Soft palate. Spicy flavor profile of gingerbread. Not the most exciting brew in the world but so nice to have a cask ale for a change in Ireland, and this one is fine to drink. 6-2-7-3-13

At a restaurant in Hilden...gold with nice lace. The balance is great-sweet, juicy malts and lovely floral fruity hops, smelling more herbal. 7-3-7-3-14 (changed to this rating because I don’t think it was served as well at the Porterhouse)

Bottle in Oslo bar, Galway. Appearance: light orange with a small white head. Aroma: Slight grassyness, mild marijuana, damp cardboard & malt. Flavour: initially grassy but with a gentle lemon undertone, nice buscuitness too with a dry finish. Nice summer ale.
