Bottle, 22oz. 2013 vintage. An almost clear one, dark amber to brown in color and with a minimal sized light beige head. The aroma has a faint spiced touch, with raisins and some roasted notes. Medium to full body and a soft carbonation. Too dryish on the palate I think. Dried figs, some caramel and spices in the flavor. Some alcohol warmth. Lasting finish with a metallic touch. Quite decent this one, but unbalanced and not superbly well crafted. 141219

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2013 Brother Dewey’s. very nice Belgian esque beer. Sort of a lower ABV quad. Nice spice, with fruity sweetness from the dates. Lower carbonation. I like it. A lot. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At Flanny’s, amber red pour with a slight off white head. Aroma of some candy sugar and a faint cinnamon. Taste has some sugar spice with some good malt character. Not sure I get any dates, but still pretty tasty.

On tap at Whole Foods Chandler’s Watering Hole. Pours a clear dark burgundary. Not much aroma at all, just some subdued sweet malt and date tones. Slightly bitter malt forward with a very sweet date back that lingers but isn’t cloying; also some brown sugar, nutmeg, and faint coriander, but the spices are a little too muted. Medium texture, long finish. The date flavor in this winter warmer is just about the right amount; not "barely there" like some other date beers, but not overpowering either.
