Dull amber colour. Certainly lots of thrown into this one, although they do seem a little tired and dull. Over the beer is drinkable but dull.

Cask Conditioned at Oxford Beer Festival ’04. Dark brown with slight head. Sweetish but low flavoured stronger mild, some roast malts and a little dry bitterness. There is a fungal aroma, pleasant but not great.
1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 maeib (6633) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - OCT 4, 2004
Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - St Albans Beer Festival. Barely any aroma except a bit of muskiness to this murky dark brown beer. There is a bit of malt in the taste but otherwise thin and dull. A real let down for a mild ale.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Joeh (2036) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 2, 2004
Cask Conditioned @ the Saturday session, St Albans Beer Festival 2004. Beer #39. Seemed rather watery, despite the higher ABV. Coffee & a little bit roasty.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 27, 2004
A brand new brewery that I have seen referred to as Collingwood brewery, but it was listed in the festival programme as Withersfield. A strong, dark mild. Malty aroma. A touch of coffee and licorice in the flavour. Quite pleasant and, although there’s nothing exceptionally interesting going on here, it’s a pretty decent first effort. Cask (gravity dispense), Ipswich Beer Festival.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sigmund (3711) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - SEP 26, 2004
UPDATED: SEP 27, 2004 Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Totally flat, no natural carbonation. Black (=dark reddish brown) colour. Not very strong but pleasant aroma: liquorice, coffee and tobacco. Flavour has some malts, liquorice, thin coffee - but leaves a rather thin mouthfeel.
