A nice reddish amber ale with a thick off white head. In aroma, a grassy aroma, with caramel malt and light lactic points, reminiscent of homebrew. In mouth, a lightly sourish ale with light grassy notes. A bit thin overall. BB 20-07-09. Bought from brewer’s other business, an engineering firm.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 probstblueribbon (1967) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 29, 2009
330 cm2 bottle via Lubiere (merci beaucoup!), served cool in a tulip glass. 2007 09, Lot 01.
App.: Murky reddish-brown with a frail white froth.
Aroma: There are hints of sweet malts, tinges of caramel and maybe chocolate, but these are quickly overtaken by big tangy funk, much like a Flemish sour and not like an amber ale! Sour cherries, and lightly spicy. Actually smells pretty good!
Palate: Medium-thin body and sparse carbonation.
Flav.: There’s some spiced sour cherry, just barely a hint of caramel, strong metallic notes that are more evident on swallowing and a lingering cigar ash aftertaste that isn’t quite as bad as it sounds.
Well, clearly things are quite right here, but I’m still glad to have Colombia checked off the list. Merci encore, Luc!
