UPDATED: AUG 20, 2007 Rating #3400... Bottle... AWOL ’07... Mostly clear, pale yellow lager with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Breadsy, citric nose. Perfectly balanced flavor with biscuity pale malts, earthy hops and subtle acidity. Light to medium-bodied with a somewhat creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Short, crisp, lightly tart finish.

Bottle 355ml. Golden color, thin white head, Hoppy and some corn in aroma, Flavor is a little bitter and some corn in there too.. Mouthfeel is dry. Cerveja dourada, pouca espuma, aroma de lupulos e notas de milho. Sabor meio amargo com notas de cereais. Retrogosto seco!

From a twist-off 12 oz. bottle with a freshness date and lot number on the back label, sampled at a cool cellar temperature in a shaker glass. Poured a mainly clear pale yellowish lager golden with a foamy white head, but there are some tiny pieces of sediment floating around in glass, not something I want in pale lager. The freshness date indicates that this only around six months old, so I find the tiny chunks of sediment to be strange, and well, kinda of scary. Aromas of sweet bready pale malts, lemony and hop spicy, generic, but not that bad. Good carbonation and a softly crisp, dryish, smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Thin, watery, sweet pale malts, sort like if you dunked a slice of white sweet bread into a glass of water, light lemony flavor with an even lighter amount of hop spiciness, a very, very mild bitterness towards the end, and a dryish sweet malty finish. An unimpressive pale lager, I see no reason to try this again.

Looks pretty much like any other fizzy yellow drink. Opening the bottle produced a Bahia-like skunkiness that faded after the pour, leaving a faint, sweet malt and hand soap aroma. The flavor is a thin, sweet grainy malt, lightly carbonated, with no discernable hop bitterness. It finishes with a granular sweetness on the tongue. Lovely.

Bottle from Party Source, KY. Amber color with a minimal frothy white head that mostly diminished with virtually no lacing. Moderate grainy citrus aroma. Light to medium body with a watery texture with soft carbonation. Light sweet flavor with a sweet finish of short duration. Worth having once.

(12 oz bottle: Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Yikes, this is a pretty bad beer. Pale straw, slightly cloudy, topped by a small white head that recedes to a thin ring. Lightly aromatic, and that’s a good thing because this beer smells terrible. It is thin and watery, and tastes slightly citrusy, but actually, the flavor of apples seems pretty unmistakeable. I can’t say I taste anything resembling malt, not even cheap grain or corn, and hops didn’t get within a hundred miles of this batch of beer. Ack, this is simply awful, most certainly a candidate for worst beer I’ve ever tasted that doesn’t have chili peppers in it.

The last bottle sitting in Georges Liquor in Crows Nest. There are no markings on the bottle to denote place of origin nor brewer, just the tiniest of writing on the side that gives the web-site. Great, once I find that my suspicions are confirmed that I am looking at a Brazilian beer and the site is in Portuguese. Thanks to Alstavista babelfish I deciphered the the description which is clearly deceptive. This is a South american lager. Full stop. Slightly matly with some balance of hops but overall one of those typical pale lager disappointments that only serve to give me a rate without any real satisfaction.
