COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottles, Regular;
A traditional Scottish Ale brewed for export. In the old days ales were taxed in shillings per barrel depending on the strength – so this malty and flavoursome ale is at the higher end of traditional beer strengths. Some claim to find a hint of smoke in 80/- ales – our slightly peaty water may well bring that out more – discover for yourself.

(RBESG 2007, Glasgow. Bottle) Amber color, offwhite head. Hoppy, grassy and floral aroma. Hoppy, grassy flavor with some fruity notes. Bitter finish.

Bottled, RBESG. If you want your bitter on the sweet side, this should be fine, but this is not how I want them. Lots of malty flavour, some more hops would have balanced this more.

A Mes rate: Bottle at RBESG. Amazed there was anything of this left after it had finished spewing all over the room. Clearly infected and heavily over carbed. Unpleasant malt with a little spruce and heather that just about saves it from being dire.

Bottled at rbesg07. This was infected and managed to foam up for about 20 mins. Alround it was tart and spicey, hints of fruit but the tart infectedness got in the way of everything too much.
