[Bottle at Mondial 2014, Montreal] Pours a dark copper-brown with a spare off-white head. Nice aroma of caramel malt, nuts, maple syrup and dark fruit. Flavour has a big Scotch Ale-like taste along with some added smoke, earthy notes and light hops. Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Really good stuff.

Bottle @ Delerium Cafe in Rio de Janeiro. Medium brown hue , more sienna than anything I guess. Malty aroma with fruity accents. Sweet brown sugar, marzipan, medium bodied. Needs for hop presence to balance out the sweetness. More like a Doppelbock than an American imperial brown.

500ml bottle at the Globe. Sticky, off-white head, murky, deep brown body. Cooked apple, dark malt, nutty and spice aromas. Taste is a little earthier than I’d prefer, but the dark, cooked fruit, nuts and spice up front off set that a bit. Sticky body. Nice for a strong brown, almost like a dubbel.

From a bottle. Just to note that this is a slight different than normal brown ale with a more nutty taste.Thin body , chocolate , nutty.

TheJestersBeer (2032) - SWEDEN - APR 12, 2014
600ml bottle. Pours a medium mahogany/amber, with a thin beige head. Malty, roasted aroma, quite spicy, caramel, hints of coffee and cardboard. Off-dry, medium to full bodied, mid bitterness, creamy CO2. Roasted, malty taste, quite cardboardy, caramel, hints of hops and spices. Finishes rather thin and harsh. (2014-04-12)

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a near white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of stale bread and earthy grains with a bit of nuttiness underlying. Flavor more of a nuttiness with some sweet grains and a growing earthiness through the finish.

600 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly cloudy reddish copper color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, nuttiness, brown sugar, brown bread, biscuit, pear, apple, floral, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with solid complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, Brazil nuts, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, nuttiness, brown sugar, biscuit, brown bread, light chocolate, pear, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, brown sugar, biscuit, brown bread, light chocolate, pear, apple, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, Brazil nut, and yeast ester flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderate creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice imperial brown ale, but it pretty much feels like an ESB in flavor. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, Brazil nut, and yeast ester flavors; and smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Mcbertola (103) - BRAZIL - JAN 12, 2014
Coloração escura, espuma nao muito persistente. Aroma que lembra baunilha. Carregada, não é muito indicada para dias quentes. Sabor de baunilha, caramelo e um final de castanha. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
