Deep amber pour. Pretty hazy. Mild off white head and mild lacing. Belgian ale like estery aroma which seems out of place. Dark fruit, spiciness, and mild banana. Pick up a bit of caramel sweetness and breadiness. No nuts in aroma. Flavor starts off with a lot if plum and raisin. That taste mellows out to show some nuttiness and slight hop flavors, but definitely still heavy on yeast flavors. Not what I was expecting. ---Rated via iPhone

600ml bottle. Pours a medium mahogany/amber, with a thin beige head. Malty, roasted aroma, quite spicy, caramel, hints of coffee and cardboard. Off-dry, medium to full bodied, mid bitterness, creamy CO2. Roasted, malty taste, quite cardboardy, caramel, hints of hops and spices. Finishes rather thin and harsh. (2014-04-12)

Good lacing and good retention. Smells of biscuit, sweet bread, sweet malt and a nutty aroma. Tastes of hazelnut, sweet bread, vanilla and malts. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a near white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of stale bread and earthy grains with a bit of nuttiness underlying. Flavor more of a nuttiness with some sweet grains and a growing earthiness through the finish.

600 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly cloudy reddish copper color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, nuttiness, brown sugar, brown bread, biscuit, pear, apple, floral, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with solid complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, Brazil nuts, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, nuttiness, brown sugar, biscuit, brown bread, light chocolate, pear, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, brown sugar, biscuit, brown bread, light chocolate, pear, apple, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, Brazil nut, and yeast ester flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderate creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice imperial brown ale, but it pretty much feels like an ESB in flavor. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, Brazil nut, and yeast ester flavors; and smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Coloração escura, espuma nao muito persistente. Aroma que lembra baunilha. Carregada, não é muito indicada para dias quentes. Sabor de baunilha, caramelo e um final de castanha. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

New Beer Distributors, NYC 50cl ($9): Pours murky brown with a tan head. Aroma is a bit nutty and plenty malty. Taste is somewhat sweet. Non-descript. It be a little sweet. Leaves some lightly roasty aftertaste. Kind of all over the place. This was my first beer in a few weeks and was not a great intro back into beer.

Beer appears russet to crimson with an inch of tan head. Scents include brown bread, prominent yeast, apples, molasses, dark fruits. Aggressive alcohol. Harsh, sweet and instantly cloying. Yeast character is overabundant and bites the palate. The imperial stout from this brewery was much better. No way I can finish this. Not again.

Odd looking 600 ml bottle, had a date code with letters and numbers that made no sense. Dark brown in color with thick off white head that laced well. I got to admit, I don’t know what Brazil nuts taste like but this flavor is nice. Decent creamy texture on the tongue. Nuts, slight raisin notes, syrupy English toffee and hints of chocolate. I didn’t believe it was 8 percent. Simple but tasty.

Ernest (6031) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 7, 2013
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber to light brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, malt syrup, grain), with notes of potato, alcohol, metal, and brown sugar. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Another primitive, sugary brew from Cerv. Colorado.
