3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 tmrmwel (230) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 26, 2012
Bottle. Pours a nice amber, with a coloured creamy head. Aroma is quite crisp with pine woods and cones, and also a fair bit of citrus. Flavour is also quite citrusy, with good notes of grapefruit and orange peel, which gives a nice long finish.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 eusou9 (31) - - APR 20, 2012
Dark clear non-sparkling orange with a thin white creamy head. Strong hop aroma, with a fruity toych. Nicely sweetness flavour, with floral scent comming to the mouth. Bitterness is right, and the taste remains only the necessary in the mouth. Season perfectly matched. Great beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 cmc619 (265) - USA - MAR 10, 2012
First Brazilian craft beer (or cerveja artesenal). Tasted in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From bottle purchased at local grocery store. Listening to Sepultura, "Arise," to set the mood. Kind of cool bottle--like a short-neck bomber. 600 ml. Pry-off. Pours burnt orange into small hotel cocktail glass (best available). Flavor is fruity hops. Wet IPA. Pretty sweet--barleywine lite? Palate is mostly even. Lacks the dry finish I usually want in IPAs. That said, there’s some complexity here and probably room for interpretation. I like it, and it’s a nice change from the (admittedly alluringly drinkable) "chopp" (draft pale lager) that predominates.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tmac9wr (1) - São Paulo, Brasil / Boston, USA, - MAR 4, 2012 does not count
I moved to São Paulo several months ago and had been drinking caipirinhas (which is a great drink) in place of beer since the major brands here are pretty bad and the "good" beer is Heineken...that was until I found this gem in a local super market. From the first sip I felt like I was back home, drinking a good American micro brew. This--and brews by Colorado--is a solid IPA.
It’s got a strong aroma, with a great color...perhaps slightly more red/copper than a traditional IPA. Its taste is strong with lots of dry hops, with a satisfying bite at the end for your troubles. Overall, it’s a great beer. I’d love to get my hands on Colorado’s Imperial IPA if I get the chance.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 islay (637) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 26, 2012
600 mL bottle that my girlfriend picked up for me on a December trip to Rio de Janeiro. It is the first of four different Colorado beers that she bought me that I have tried. Very pleasant, floral, fruity, chalky-dry, and tart aroma features plum, orange, toffee, caramel, tangerine, and raspberry Fruit Roll Up scents. The smell is more like that of a barley wine than a typical IPA. Pours a clear copper/amber with light effervescence and a small to moderate amount of beige head. Produces sporadic to moderate lacing. Appealing but ordinary appearance. The taste is very dry over a fruity, caramel malt backdrop. It’s a remarkably English-esque beer save for the aggressively dry hoppiness. Light pine and lemon from the hops, but the hops provide more dryness than specific flavors. Minerally and dusty. Good balance in the sense of strong hops and strong malt flavors. A hint of booze in the finish. Long, dry aftertaste. Moderate body. Smooth. Somewhat lively and crisp, but I could use more of that in the palate. I was expecting an imitation of an American IPA, but what I got was something different. It is perhaps closer to an American Strong Ale with a heavy English influence. It is surprisingly good, interesting, entertaining, memorable, flavorful, and aromatic. A very promising early effort from a country just starting to tackle craft brewing.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Padilha (82) - BRAZIL - FEB 4, 2012
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 sunevdj (2489) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - FEB 1, 2012
Bottled. Pours a clear, pale amber with a small white head. Sweet with hints of alcohol and hops. Soft carbonation. Medium bodied. Dry finish. Where did all the hops go?
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 16, 2012
Bottle at Colher de Pau, Ipanema. It pours orange, with a thin white head. The nose is full of sweet orange fruit: orange, mango and apricot, as well as caramel and sweaty sock. The taste is orange, mango, apricot, marmalade, hay, soap, caramel and some alcohol warmth, with a bitter-citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A really solid IPA, with good orange fruit.
