wpp83 (64), Athens, Georgia, USA Feb 2, 2004 Of all the cheap beers I have ever had in my life, this one was the best for its price, reputation, and volume. brendangen (4), New Jersey, USA does not count Jan 26, 2004 actually looks and tastes better then most 40s. I actually prefer this to budweiser. Its a great deal for its price, although only if you enjoy your drink very sweet. But its also strong, so if you chug it, which i did last night, your face goes delightfully numb. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA Jan 15, 2004 Thanks Billy D. Williams. Considering it's malt liquor and it's 8%, it really isn't that bad. I'll take just about anything in place of it though. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jan 14, 2004 Updated: Jan 30, 200532oz bottle, clear. Clear golden color, soapy white head. Wet grain aroma with some soapy "bittering hop" notes. Watery-sweet start with an astringent paper bag aftertaste. Not totally offensive, just no positive qualities. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England Jan 3, 2004 Can, New York. Pale golden colour with a generous white head. Similar to a European larger. Strong but more subtlety down then most. Flavour is pretty shit though. Not really drinkable. This is just a quick dirty rate before I hop on the plan back across the pond. If anyone’s interested I’ll be at the Wenlock Arms tomorrow PM. troll1944LS (2), Boston, Massachusetts, USA does not count Dec 22, 2003 Presentation: 24 oz can, they call it a "TWO FOUR" on the label, no freshness date to be found anywhere.
Appearance: Pale golden yellow colour, two fingered head forms from a spritzy big bubbled carbonation. Very thin sprinkled white lace is left, something is better than nothing right?
Smell: Both a sweetness from the malt and cereal grain as well as the alcohol. Smells faint of trifle, lady fingers in alcohol.
Taste: Stiff medium body with an increasing smoothness as the carbonation unleashes. Slightly creamy mouth feel shows that there is a decent amount of malt in this brew. As soon as the flavours rush in sweet warming alcohol fumes from the mouth and nose. Grain and sweetness are the forefront, touch of corn grit flavour and a cracker like maltiness come from that. Hops are barley in the flavour though there is a sharpness from them that essentially is the bitterness which is coupled with the warming alcohol and graininess. A biting grain and warming alcohol warp things up in the end.
Notes: Not a bad brew when wanting to quickly consume for a buzz. One of the most known malt liquors on the market, this is typically consumed out of the can or more popularly out of the 40 oz bottle.
A friend of mine always brings over a couple "FOUR Os" of this stuff as a gag ... funny thing is that we end up polishing the stuff off everytime. OD40oz (600), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA Nov 23, 2003 Updated: May 26, 2004You can't get this stuff here in Rapid City, SD so when I went to visit a stupid hook I was dating a few summers ago in Nebraska I picked up a few tall boys of this. I wasn't too impressed though. TChrome (1296), Bedford, Texas, USA Nov 22, 2003 40 oz. bottle: Aroma is straw/hay. Appearance is fizzy/yellow. Flavor is not horrible. Initially sweet with a kinda dry finish, the 8% ABV is totally hidden. Flavor avoids another 40 oz. drain pour. Will drink maybe 12 oz., then down the drain.
