COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For over 4 decades, Colt 45 Premium Malt Liquor has been the "class of all malt liquor brands". With its smooth and distinct flavor and historic affiliation with Billy Dee Williams, it has become an urban American icon. If you’re looking for a thick 40, or an ice cold shorty, Colt 45 is the malt liquor that works EVERYTIME!

This is the beer you see homeless people walk out of the liquor store with. The cheapest and one of the worst there is to offer.

Tall can at OTT. I can’t ever remember seeing this in stores around here and my curiosity got the best of me. Super pale, lasting head (poured it into a plastic 32oz cup to allow generous headspace and room to get my nose in and savor the glorious aroma). Chemical fusel aroma. The flavor is just plain dirty, with lots of adjuncts, sugar, and higher alcohols. Hard to finish.

Ugh! I tried this again just to see if I hate malt liquor as much as I thought. I do. Not much else to say. Aroma is sweet corn and metal. Pour is nice enough. A medium gold with a 2 finger white head. Taste was carbonated sugar water with a splash of metal. Heavy carbonation which is good so when you throw the stuff up (if you drink a whole bottle) it hurts just as much coming out as it did going in. Side note: I see this is listed as "On tap:Available". If I EVER go somewhere and they have Colt 45 on tap, I’ll smack the bartender and walk out.

24 oz can purchased somewhere in Mission, Kansas. Poured into my Duvel tasting tulip. Pour is a clear golden with a fizzy two inch white head that falls quickly with soapy residue. Aroma is strong corn, dusty malt, along with some plastic. Taste is sweet malt, pretty harsh corn and a strong plastic wet newspaper type taste to the middle and finish. After taste is similarly dirty, and, frankly gross. Palate is thin, sort so fizzy foamy carbonation and the plastic aftertaste. This has the rare combination of being watery and boozy.

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2006 22 oz. bottle (does it come any smaller?) I was at <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/oak-fo Liquors after learning they had big bottles of Kasteel on clearance, and saw this on sale for 99¢! How can I lose? And I’m the 300th person to rate it to boot! Well, pours a halfway decent yellow, anyway, with a disappearing head and a constant, slight stream of tiny bubbles (so up for at least looking like it should). Smell, though, is of boiled corn sugar. Taste involves dead yeast and rotten eggs before you can find anything beerlike. Even then it’s mostly adjunct. But then again it’s what you drink this for. A quick buzz totally unencumbered by taste.

Dusty and unsuprisingly malty aroma. Golden with a little frothy head. Ok taste but not really something. Thin.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2003 Poured a brilliant gold - huge, quickly disapating head - fantastic lacing. This was part of the chatroom tasting on 4/9/03 - a spectacular gathering, my Lads, Mates and Lasses. Aroma was corn, alcohol, chemical. Nice sweet green apple malts - hops? nope - finish wasn't bad though. keep this one cold and frosty.

Another pathetic beer that I have forgotten. How could anyone make a beverage that tastes like gutter water. I’d love to be serious about this but the people who made this can’t serious... but they are.

Can, New York. Pale golden colour with a generous white head. Similar to a European larger. Strong but more subtlety down then most. Flavour is pretty shit though. Not really drinkable. This is just a quick dirty rate before I hop on the plan back across the pond. If anyone’s interested I’ll be at the Wenlock Arms tomorrow PM.
