For over 4 decades, Colt 45 Premium Malt Liquor has been the "class of all malt liquor brands". With its smooth and distinct flavor and historic affiliation with Billy Dee Williams, it has become an urban American icon. If you’re looking for a thick 40, or an ice cold shorty, Colt 45 is the malt liquor that works EVERYTIME!

If you like thick, bready beers, move to europe. Colt 45 for me is the epitome of an easy-to-drink, thirst-quenching and refreshing beer. Ice cold (minimum 20 minutes in the freezer prior to drinking, and served in an iced mug) and at the end of a hot summer’s day, a colt 45 is really a sublime experience. The bubbles tickle the throat as it goes down, and it’s very easy to polish off a 22 in several sips as thirst, and the day’s stresses and troubles, are put to rest for the evening. I honestly have a difficult time understanding those who give this beer such bad reviews. What would they prefer to drink with salted peanuts, pretzels, pizza, or a shishkabob---guinness.....??? Oh, one final note---the fact that colt 45 is a full dollar more per 22 than the competing brands indicates to me that this truly is the king of malt liquors.

I work at a liquor store and picked some up/ It wasn’t the first time, I never get enough/ I’m about two thirds done with a 40, it’s been a half an hour/ Surprisingly it never tasted sour/ It tastes good right now, I can’t complain/ I’ll take this whole damn 40 to my brain/ So don’t talk shit/ You’ll get yo ass clipped/ Split yo lip/ I’m down with Colt to da 4 fifth.

This is not a bad 40...the other people testing this probably arent fans of 40’s in general, so its hard to take their opinion to heart. Not as good as King Cobra or Mickey’s in my opinion, but still on my list of top 5 40’s

Ahh! Colt 45. Now there's a fine brew worthy of a brown paper bag. Though not my favorite Malt beverage I do respect the 'Forty' that for the most part, started it all. My biggest gripe with this brand is it's low alchol content, I mean come on, 40s are supposed to 'Taste like crap, and knock you out flat'(say, that was pretty smooth), thats the point, so what is the reward for your toils and pain for holding this one down? A Whuppass Buzz? I don't think so. And by the way, what ever happend to the 45oz bottles? Gripes aside however, due to tradition, I do recomend this Malt as a starter before moving up to the 8% and above club. Yep, if you want to start drinking 40s, start with this brand, drink one down, than throw the empty, brown bag wraped, bottle into an alley or gutter, soon you'll understand what its all about, Yup "Every Time"! Baby.

When it comes to American high-octane malt liquors, Colt 45 is the reigning king. Surprisingly smooth, obviously adjunct laden for more fermentible sugars. This one is strong and I can’t taste much in the way of ’malt’ or hops for that matter...but that’s not what malt liquor is really about, is it? It is what it is and nobody does it better than the Colt. As Billy Dee Williams says, ’it works every time.’ We used to have 40-ounce fraternity parties and this one was my 40 of choice. I’m a lover of good craft beers but I try not to judge malt liquors or American lagers by those standards. Instead I compare each beer to the others in the same category.
