2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Shag (2283) - Chattanooga, USA - JUN 2, 2008
A pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is rather malty with some corn notes. The flavor is some malty corn notes but no alcohol notes. This is not offensive at all which is a good aspect of a malt liquor. Pretty drinkable actually. Grab a fo-dee dawg.

During a beer tasting we tried this one. Remembrances of the teenage years. Really not so bad. A great palate cleanser!

Date: March 9, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: BVery Description: Translucent yellow with some head and lacing surprisingly. Aroma was grain and taste was pretty much the same but not much there. A little dry in the finish makes this a tad worse than the regular.

Bottle. Clear yellow pour with a large foamy white head. Water, grain, and...and...uh, that’s it. Bleh.

It poured a golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of sweet corn and little else. The taste was sweet corn and little else. You don’t know until you try it.

Pale lager month installment number five brings us a bottle of beer that has been used to hold up a shelf in my fridge for some time now, I decided it was my destiny to open it this evening. Pours a golden color with a big tight white head and nice lacing, looks about as good as a malt licka can!
Aroma is mild, a little corny, a little breakfast cereal, but really only a precious little of both. The mild malty aroma is nice.
The flavor is malty, in a sort of sweet sort of lightly toasty way. The usual corn and cereal take a back seat with this one, without loosing the sort of sharpness, the mild tartness, and alcohol flavor one attributes with the style. Sort of a classy malt liquor if you ask me, has a fuller mouthfeel than most. Enjoyable in it’s own right.

Well, I was happy to have found this beer in St. Louis, because it is not sold in Louisiana. The actual name of it is Colt 45 Double Malt Malt Liquor. Funny, huh? I found it to be better than I expected. It is damn harsh, but if one can get past that (and I understand many cant’), it’s okay. Double Malt has a thick, white head and a clear, golden appearance. Carbonation is very high, which I found surprising. The aroma is of lightly roasted grains. The taste is moderate to strong and very rich (and may be too sweet for many folks). Mouth-feel is heavy, to say the least. It finishes harsh and filling. Sometimes I like to drink these monsters. Sometimes.

Bottle. Pours yellow/gold, with a white head. Aroma is corn and grain. Flavor is corn, sugar, grain, and a little bit of fruit. Rather one dimensional, but also not offensive and easy to frink.

Smooth sweet flavored malt liquor. It seems like the double malts really help mask that "malt liquor" finish you get with the regular Colt. This is one of the better 40’s I have had.

40 oz bottle. Consumed as a part of an 18 beer blind Malt Liquor tasting. Pours a clear pale yellow with a small wispy white head. Horrible corn and veggie nose with a touch of light alcohol. Very thin and watery flavor with a lingering sweetness. Some similarities to rocket fuel. Light bodied, thin and fizzy. Not so good at all.

Looks and smells like the average macro. A bit light in the ethanol department for it’s style. This ain’t great, but it’s not overly horrible for a cheap malt liquor. It’s better than regular Colt 45 too.
