One of the best malt liquors ever, it gets you lifted and doesn’t taste too bad ice cold...........what else are you looking for when you drink such a substance?

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2010 Rollin’ with mydudes. Yellow pour with a nice sized white head. Aroma is booze, spoiled dark fruit, and grain. Flavor is similar but adds some nice plum, grape, raisin, and other rotting dark fruits into the mix. Reminds me a bit of westy 12 in the department. Booze becomes apparent when it warms and kind of stands off on it’s own.

Moutlrie, Ga. - Chevron Store - 24 oz can macho-looking shiny industrial looking black can.Light gold pour, pithy white head that leaves a lot foam after the original pour. Wet paper bag aroma, plenty of corn squeezings and booze. Not much else. Instead of being a "belly warmer" this is a belly ignitor - hope I make it to the next rest stop! Throat clenching mouthfeel - good as an alcohol delivery system.

Colt 45 High Gravity Lager has a thick, white head and a clear, golden color. Carbonation is moderate to high. The aroma is of corn and malt, but not particularly strong. The taste is surprisingly mild for an 8.5% abv beer. This drink does not taste strong, if anything, it has a stereotypical beer flavor, so I’d say the alcohol is pretty much hidden. Mouth-feel is moderately heavy. This finished crisp, which was a further surprise. I thought Colt 45 HG (poured from a 16 oz. can) was very full-flavored and enjoyable. I recommend giving this one a try. By the way, it is NOT available in Louisiana. I bought it on a road trip in New York City. RJT

Pours yellow, with a white head. Aroma is corn, grain, malt, and a little fruit. Flavor is corn, fruit, grain, and alcohol. Not too bad, certainly drinkable.

Pretty decent. Kind of has a cheap wine taste. Notes of old grape candy and banana peels are very present and somewhat inviting as I take my first sips. This isn’t bad for a mass produced ultra cheap malt liqour.

I am assuming this is what i had, but who knows. It was labeled Colt 45 HG and it was 8.5%. Since I don’t want to add another rating I will put it here until further notice. Corny sweet and metallic nose. Can isn’t that cool. It is not sinister looking, it is sleek and silver, and not how I like my malt liquor cans. Light bodied and drinkable at 8.5%, corny and sweet, but not much else. Drinkability is decent.

A: I was absolutely shocked by the pour on this beer. The pour is a clear golden yellow color with plenty of small carbonation bubbles and a fluffy white head with great retention. S: The nose is light and sweet with some definite corn and grain and no noticeable hop character. Quite neutral, to be honest. T: The flavor is similarly unobjectionable. The corn and grain give the beer sweetness, but there’s no hops at all--not surprising, however. M: The body is on the light side with a high carbonation and lacking that usual malt liquor aftertaste. D: This is one of the best malt liquors out there. I was expecting this to be terrible considering the regular Colt 45, but I found this to be quite decent.
