Colt 45 High Gravity Lager has a thick, white head and a clear, golden color. Carbonation is moderate to high. The aroma is of corn and malt, but not particularly strong. The taste is surprisingly mild for an 8.5% abv beer. This drink does not taste strong, if anything, it has a stereotypical beer flavor, so I’d say the alcohol is pretty much hidden. Mouth-feel is moderately heavy. This finished crisp, which was a further surprise. I thought Colt 45 HG (poured from a 16 oz. can) was very full-flavored and enjoyable. I recommend giving this one a try. By the way, it is NOT available in Louisiana. I bought it on a road trip in New York City. RJT

Can. Grainy, corny, but otherwise relatively clean. Not as bad as I expected.

Tall boy from Dawg. Pours light yellow with an inch of white foam. A bit of corn oil on the nose. An oiliness on the tongue. Not much taste beyond the metallic corn thing. Very watery. Not much alcohol on the tongue which is a little scary. People drink this only to get drunk quickly and cheaply.

Tall boy from DiarmaidBHK - well it doesn’t suck as much as normal colt 45, but that’s not really saying much. It’s aroma and taste are less offensive and a milder watery corn oil experience. Overall, blah.

24 oz can. Corn sweetness, some soap, alcohol burn, chemical aftertaste. Not my favorite ML ever.

Drink this fast drink this cold. It’s a great brew when you only have $0.42 to your name, it’s cold, your stuck waiting outside for a train for 45 min., and the only thing that might make life more barable is a quick buzz. To get the most bang for your buck I suggest using a knife or key to puncture the bottom side of the can. Place mouth over hole, pop top. If done properly in 10 sec. you will have, and empty can, and ice cream head ache, and a cheap buzz

8/6/11. Oh God. Giant 24oz can thanks to PorterPounder... I guess... slammed straight from the can like a real man. The hair on my chest doubled. Horrid aroma of rotten hay aroma with old green apples and a load of fusel alcohol. The flavor is... oh my... a disturbing combination of sweet caramels, burnt hay, rocket fuel, and... and... dog? I don’t know, but it’s bad... ugh.

made sure i froze it an extra 20 min after refrigeration, drink fast and cold. 16 oz can that was dirt cheap. Pours a bit deeper gold, though still crystal clear than a regular colt 45, the head is again bright white and foamy, it sticks a bit longer than the average malt liquor and leaves tom okay lacing, which is odd because it is higher alcohol than the regular, thank god for additives. The smell is better here than normal colt, even more of the corn smell is gone, it has a fruitiness to it, slight adjunct feel, dare i say even a hint of yeasty smell. When cold it tastes alright, bread, caramel, apple cider, hint of walnut, more corn than a regular colt imo though. More gravity inevitably means more corn unfortunately. The colt 45 beers are probably the best adjunct lagers, but then again, only if your in a pinch would i recommend this. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-03-2010 04:45:31

Tall boy. Pours pale gold and very carbonated. Malty, corn, bitter. One of the worst beers I’ve ever had.
