Commercial Description:
Great Scottish ales are prized world-wide. Our version pours a dark, ruby red with a rich malty character that you won’t forget.

Pours a transparent copper ruby with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet toasted caramel malt with some doughy yeast character. Body starts fairly full and caramely sweet with some biscuity notes and bittering hops before a drier finish. A decent Scottish ale.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark mahogany body with a small, wispy, white head. Smell: Aroma of toasted nuts and toasted grains with a note of non-toasted fruits underneath. Taste: Middling maltiness tasting of caramel and nuts with a mild sweetness. Light smoke component. Not really much hoppiness in this thing. Altogether nutty finish. It’s all very simple, folks. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Decent enough for a Scottish Ale, I suppose, though I certainly wouldn’t race back to try another.

The body is dark copper brown and red. The aroma is toasted nuts and smoked malt. There is also a little bit of caramel. This is a sour nasty brew, not sure if this is the way it’s supposed to taste. The taste has some smoked malt and nuts behind that sourness. I wanted to say thanks to iowaherkeye for sharing, but maybe I should insult him instead?

Bottle: This is actually a pretty tasty beer. Pours a deep amber, aroma is toasted nuts and caramel malts. Flavor is crisp and sweet, a little hollow, traces of popcorn, caramel malts, and dark sugars. Very good.

Poured a clear mahogany with a massive fizzy off-white head. Aroma of some light acidity, some smoke, and a bit of dark fruit. Flavor follows with notes of grape and prune, smoky bacon, a touch of hoppiness, and more light acidity. I’m guessing this had a mild infection in it, but even so it remained a reasonably drinkable scottish ale. I can imagine that it was that much better when completely fresh. Would revisit with a better bottle.

Medium tan in color, with an average head. Shows good lacing down the glass. Smells a bit sweet. But, the taste is rich, with molasses, coffee and a bit of burnt malt. Thanks for the trade JB.
