COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classic porter is based on a British ale brewery’s recipe dating to 1859. Smoky and fruity, this is the beer that powered the Industrial Revolution. Brewed with English East Kent Goldings hops for true British character. Only available on draft.

this is one they only have on draft at their brewpub. Their brewmaster was going for a traditional british style after a visit to England. This beer poured an amazing black color but with little head, but maybe that was due to the temperature it was served. Aroma had strong elements of burnt coffee and malt. The taste was also of coffee and malts with elements of toffee. The way he did this shows the old connection between the porters and the stouts. Very good beer.

I had this at O’Shaughnessy’s Public House in the Arena District here in Columbus under the moniker "O’Shaughnessy’sDam Good Porter". The waiter told us it was brewed exclusively for O’Shaughnessy’s by CBC but I can’t imagine it being a different brew than the 1859 Porter. Either way this is a great Porter. I had to wait for it to warm a bit as it was served too cold but it was worth it. Pours an oily black color with a very thin head. Nice roasted coffee aroma. Slightly creamy flavor consisting of coffee (again) with a nice toasty finish. This is definitely one to get again.

Very dark and yummy. It gives you that nice toasty chocolate & coffee flavor - very dark color. I definitely recommend this one. It was especially good accompanying the ’Dam good Fish and Chips’ at O’Shaughnessy’s - which I believe is the only place you can get it.

I had this at O’Shaughnessy’s Public House under the name O’Shaughnessy’s Dam Good Porter. Pours black with a mocha head that fades pretty quick. Nice aroma of coffee, and sweet milk chocolate. Also lots of roasty notes. A real delight to the nose. Flavor is no disappointment either. This is a nice blend of chocolate sweetness and coffee bitters. Very robust and flavorful. Full mouthfeel with not too much carbonation. Very creamy and delicious.. This is a very nice porter and worthy of the name Dam Good Porter!

Can’t believe I’ve never rated this one. One of my go-to local beers, even at O’Shaughnessy’s where it’s called "O’Shaughnessy’s Dam Good Porter". This particular occasion was a pint at CBC. Darkest brown/black pour with a medium tan head. Roasty nose with some chocolate, a teeny bit of sweetness and some coffee. Malty flavor with chocolate and a bitter coffee finish. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Very good robust porter.

Had a pint of this at the Public House prior to the Blue Jackets game vs. the Oilers. Wonderful nose of oats, anise, brown sugar and a hint of roasted coffee. Pours a licorice brown/black with typical thin tap head. The flavor is both rich and deep. Spices, alcohol, dried fruit, and coffee predominate. The brew has a moderate acidity and a long sweet finish. The full and chewy body is very lively with an alcoholic finish. Reminds me of Fullers London. I can’t bring much higher praise than that for a brew of this style.

Pours a deep brown with a thin tan head. Excellent blend of chocolate and coffee aroma and taste. Really outstanding porter. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this beer was. Had the O’Shaughnessy’s Dam Good Porter which is an alias for this beer. Asked the waitress and she confirmed that this was from the Columbus Brewing Company.
