COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Specially kilned Crystal malt and a generous portion of American cascade hops are used for a refreshing, spicy aroma, and a long, dry finish. Great with food, it’s big, bold, and bittersweet. Named best beer in Ohio and winner of a Bronze Medal in the World Beer Championships. Four Stars-Great Lakes Beer Guide.

Color hazy with transparency. Hop notes hit on first taste but leaves a bit of bitterness on palate. Not typical hop bitterness. Not the best of P.A. but not horrible

On draft at the Embassy Suites in Columbus. I always relish the opportunity to partake in locally brewed beer. Review from notes. A: This beer has a mostly clear appearance and is a darker shade of orange. The beer has a massive head that leaves ample lacing throughout the glass. S: The aromas are fairly subtle, with a subdued hop presence. Initially, I thought that perhaps the cold temperature of the beer may be masking the aromas, but all I could perceive was a subdued hop bill and faint traces of malt. T: The beer tastes pretty decent, and is far more enjoyable than any of my other draft choices would have been. It is fairly well balanced and easy to drink, though there’s really nothing about this beer that causes me to want another drink, other than the fact that I want to sit down and have a beer. M: There is an astringent bitter note, most notably evident in the finish. D: This was a pretty mediocre brew. I’m not too interested in another round. It was worth a try.

Very drinkable. Slightly bitter; nice malt balance; solid taste from sip through after taste. This went down quickly. I’ll have another, please!

Toasty nose! Another clean ale, citrusy hoppiness, tight bitter finish. I enjoyed this.

Thanks brentfeesh. Tasted from 12 bottle into nucleated pint glass. It poured a beautfiul, mostly clear amber color (darker than expected) with vigorous, long-lasting off-white foam and lace. Aromas and flavors of bread, toast, caramel, flowery and resiny hops, slightly biscuity and nutty. Not unlike Fat Tire (though less burnt and biscuity), far more complex than a typical flagship pale ale. Very well-balanced and tasty. Highly recommended.

Originally reviewed: 9/13/10. Grabbed a sixer of this when in OH over the holiday weekend. Wanted the IPA, but couldn’t find it, so got this in it’s stead. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark rusty copper color with a moderate-sized creamy off-white head on top. Light lace is left behind after each sip. The nose on this one is basic: some creamy malts, toasted grains, and just a whiff of sharp hop resin. Mouth is nice and full-bodied. Heavy for a PA, but that’s not a bad thing really. Good carbonation. Flavors of caramel, toast, light mineral twang, and a good hop backing. Really nice APA here. I could have a few of these in a sitting no problem. They’re heavier, but the flavor is too good to pass up. Glad I picked this up.

Tasted on tap at Columbus brewing pub. Pours hazy gold, not much head. Much more carbonated than their IPAs. Taste is very bitter and the finish is not as nice as the IPAs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours copper orange with a thin white head. Aroma is floral with a little citrus. Rather bitter flavor, hoppy but with an astringent metallic flavor. High carbonation, light body and a long lasting bitterness on the palate.

on tap-pours an offwhite head and copper color. Aroma is floral/resin hops and medium malt-caramel. Taste follows. Good session PA.

Dark brass color, good head and persistent lace. Light carbonated wheat and sweet bread, moves to a light clean hop finish. Very balanced and VERY drinkable. Worth a taste.
