tallmatt67 (99), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 27, 2006 bottled. Nice deep burgandy-brown crystal-clear pour. Nice roasty-toasty aroma that’s not overdone(like lots of micro’s browns). Flavor leads with understated chocolate malt, hint of brown sugar and finishes sweetly with nice toasty malt. Nice residual sweetness leaves the impression of a rich luxurious beer clear through the clean finish. Wonderful! ultraspank (856), Dublin, Ohio, USA Jun 18, 2002 Had a few bottles of this tonight. This brew pours a dark brown ruby. The large rocky
beige head is fully lasting with decent lacing. The cookie like nose is caramel, roasted
chocolate malt, earth, and slight resin and flowers. The bold porterish flavor is deep and
complex with good balance. Low acidity is complimented by a roasted bittersweetness
with a rich coffee and chocolate malt finish that is long and bitter. The outstanding palate
is full, creamy, soft and smooth, with a clean finish. If I tasted this blind, I would swear it
to be a porter. Very well done. Darkover (1214), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 8, 2002 Roasted aroma, small head. Roasted malt flavor. The nut flavor is mostly in the finish alcoholica (129), Dublin, Ohio, USA Nov 19, 2003 Pours a dark brown. Very good roasted chocolate malt flavor, with a little hop. I can taste the alcohol and has a bitter aftertasted. Good beer. KAggie97 (1920), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Feb 17, 2006 Bottle from OhioDad Thanks!
Pours a murky brown with a nice head and clinging lace. Aroma is a sweet smoke aroma, with hints of roasted nut and bits of chocolate. Actually, the more I smell it the more prominent the smokiness is. Flavor is a sweet berry-like boquet, with some caramel and candy thrown in the mix as well. The flavor and the palate roll on the tongue in waves; high intensity, lower intensity, high intensity, and rounded out by a subsiding cascade of flavor. I am enjoying this beer. Dad: Send more, eh?!!
