50cl bottle, bb 04/14. Hazy amber, thin white head. Low carbonation. Grainy, slightly sweet aroma, yeasty, mild fruity. Fruitiness continues in the flavor, along with grainy malt and some sweetness. Decent, good drinkability, as these beers tends to be.

Bottle 50 cl, BBE 30.04.2014. Pours golden in color with a frothy white head. Light herbal notes, some hay and dry forrest berries in aroma. Light mineral touch in taste, some dryish hay also. Ending is more forrestberry sweetish with light bitterness as well.

TAR (2499) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - NOV 9, 2013
Draught at Beim Meislbeck in Erbendorf, Nov. 2012: Yellowish orange. Fluffy white head holds fairly well. Dusty malt rusticity, potpourri, cookie, peach cobbler, browned biscuit and poundcake line the appealing aroma. Quite perfumey, as well. Somewhat grainy. Soft and fluffy mouthfeel. Dryly malty upfront, with a boisterously floral punch that ensues. Refined kiss of sliced ripe peaches enlivens the juicy hop smack as it adorns the prominent potpourri notes. Thoroughly saliva-inducing and mouth-filling, with a ripe assortment of fruity esters and hop juice. Deeply dextrinous and gently scratchy malt exhibits tremendous depth yet at the same time has a featherweight elegance about it. Invigorating mineralic grip dovetails with the toasty clasp of the malt and delicate but bright fruity twang. Floral hop succulence precedes a dusting of toasted bread and lemon cake maltiness in the clean and cohesive finish. A lovely zoiglbier that evokes the old world with its dusty malt character and rustic yeast signature. Clean, balanced and quaffable!

Bottle from Bierzwerg!
Pours pale copper colored with soapy head. Smell is very yeasty malty ,slight bready sweet. Starts malty and bready, yeasty-sweetish with some cereals. Middle part is very bready and yeasty, overall very sweet. Fizzy carbonation. Goes into a yeasty and bready finish, again very sweet. Really easy drinkable and refreshing!

Here I put my rating for the draft Zoiglbier served at Beim Meislbeck in Erbendorf in November of 2012. I was told it was made by Privatbrauerei Hösl in Mitterteich, so it seems that this is the place it should go. Like most Zoigl it was hazed honey amber in color with a fine-bubbled and thick off-white head. Layers of malt sugar in the nose, from honey to agave nectar to marzipan to sugar cookie. Full and frothy body with incredibly soft malt texture and creamy carbonation, not a hint of any malt astringency or roughness. Moderately bitter with juicy lemon and orange / nectarine hop flavor and aroma. Succulent and sweet honey malt and cara-Munich toffee core with a lot of enjoyable baked bread and glazed pastry notes. A hint of butter for which I’m not entirely confident is there, along with medium acid and spicy black peppercorn phenols (and maaaaybe a touch of solvent) in the finish. A rich malt-driven experience with well-matched German hopiness and only mild gameiness. Certainly a different beer fresh on tap rather than bottled, shipped and stored. YMMV, of course.

Geiserich (3394) - Linz, AUSTRIA - JUN 2, 2013
Bottle: Aroma with notes of citrus, butter and malt. Hazy, light amber color. Flavor is malty with notes of butter, caramel and hints of yeast. Good one.

It’s hazy warm golden with a creamy white head. The aroma has notes of butter, caramel, malt and light fruit. The flavor has a moderate sweetness and notes of butter, malt, fruit, caramel and towards the finish toast and a touch of dry straw. A little too much butter.
