Location: Growler at Paul’s Blind Impy Stout Tasting, 1/5/13

Aroma: The nose has some roasted malts and a little smoke as well
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a light brown head
Flavor: The taste is fairly malty with a nice, lightish smokey presence to it
Palate: The body of this beer is medium, it has a fairly clean feel, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: Thanks blipp! I liked this one. It has a nice roasted malt presence and some smoke too. It drinks nicely. Good stuff overall. On a completely unrelated note, I can’t believe the Falcons just blew a 20 point lead and then came back to win. Wow, what a game.

Growler courtesy of blipp at Paul’s for the Blind Stout tasting. Pours a clear brown with a thin to medium sized tanned beige head. Smoky on the nose, toast and cocoa. Roast and nutty malt. A touch of smoke throughout, never overpowering, always lingering in the background. Long toast and nutty malt into the finish, touches of smoke. Super easy drinking. Very nice stuff.

Wish I could find a commercial description or the ABV, but I couldn’t. I didn’t want to assume the same ABV as the Roc one, not sure if it’s exactly the same recipe (maybe someone can confirm?). Regardless, this was a growler fill from the brewery, this beer is their collaboration beer with Roc Brewing in Rochester. I didn’t get a lot of smoke in it, it was a pretty standard porter. Easy to drink, good sweetness. Not my favorite of their beers, but I look forward to more dark beer offerings.
